Arc Raiders

Nice...have done all the quests that are in the stress test and unlocked all the Raider Deck items. 13 hours played, think the stress test ends in a couple of hours so all ready for full release day !

didnt play much of server slam as i played both tech tests and didn't want to burn myself out for the release think i did about 10 hours... IRL mate of mine did 42 hours of server slam :D

Had an email saying this is now in my library to try, so installed it, had a quick go, killed another player and a few robots, graphics look nice and runs well but the game isnt for me.

Just got bored of it very quick but then again extraction shooters are not for me anyway, guess if your into these types of games you will have loads of fun with this.

As for me, uninstalled and wont be buying.

Yeah I dont think its a game which will win people over to the extraction shooter genre, I still think you'd need to like the genre, its a bit like trying to convince a non-colony sim player that Rimworld , despite what it looks and plays like, is actually a really good game worth their time :)

So I've played more and I don't think the game is for me, probably partly due to me not knowing what I'm doing fully and also that I've only played solos but the game just seems very boring and unforgiving. Trailers make the Arc look really cool but all I ever see are the drones which are very dull. Only time I ever see another player is a camper when I'm trying to use the lift. Gameplay loop is very dull, sneaky about, look for junk, attempt to use lift and get out.

Maybe there's is more in the final game as just this just a server test but it's not leaving a good impression on me I'm afraid

Theres more in the final game but it is basically an extraction shooter and if you arent someone who enjoys the extraction shooter gameloop then you'll not really get on with Arc Raiders, if however you are someone who enjoys the extraction shooter gameloop then there isnt anything that other extraction shooters do that Arc Raider doesnt, so no reason to not like it and imo is the best extraction shooter I've played yet :)

Well i'm loving it, not really played Extraction shooters before apart from the Division and Helldivers but not quite the same, just had my first game of trios after playing solo, much better, I am assumiong the loot and enemies will get better and with 12 more maps there will be plenty to do, combat is tense and satisfying and the atmosphere they have created is up my street, quality stuff.

Heard on Cohh's stream it ends the 20th at 3AM ET, so roughly 15 more hours.

Just in the process of DLing this now. Pricing suggests they expect it to be strong on full release. Looks like I need to review this full thread now which I hope I can do before the DL finishes. Had some good feedback from people I play other things with but this thread seems mixed

I've got 8hours now and the PvP aspect is just not very good, can't quite put my finger on why just seems really off.

Very bland PvE extraction.....not for me unfortunately since I was hoping for something new to get away from Delta Force.

I think the problem with this is that it's a wildly inconsistent experience. It's like a Cohen brothers movie where 99.99% of the time it's kind of repetitive looting, punctuated with 5 second battle with someone.

Right now after a fair few games in, I'm just not sold on the combat, assault rifles are king, smg type weapons, shotguns and rifles are just plain bad, even in circumstances where they should have an advantage.

The solo experience is generally pretty bad unless you're a sweat, the trio experience is good with friends is best. The trio experience with Randoms is seriously hit or miss. Most people don't use mic, half the time someone wanders off on their own. My experience is as mixed as this thread. You have to be prepared to eat the losses and often they are bad luck as much as lack of skill. Several losses in a row can leave you with basic starter kits. Not only does that feel bad, but you're at a massive disadvantage mixed with the fact you know the next 2-3 wins are just mostly just making up for your losses.

It's kinda being sold on a promise right now that skilled players will spread out a bit more with the full game, lobbies need to be more fair for this to work or the casuals like me will eat too many losses and stop playing. I give it 3-6 months before the game has lost the majority of its player base tbh. My guess is It'll be F2P inside a year with P2W elements in the shop.

To counter the two posters above, I think its superb and the best extraction shooter I've played and I've had immense fun both in solo and in groups and I'm certainly no sweat.

Ive played 4 hours now and while it shiney and polished i cannot see myself buying it for the same reasons i dont enjoy BR games.
I know its not technically a BR but it just feels like a BR to me but i 100% get why people into BR and extraction pvp will love this as it is very good at what it does.

As mentioned above its a wildly inconsistent experience but maybe thats the nature of the beast.

I said almost same to my group last night as @PrincessFrosty . There needs to be some matchmaking balance I was referencing Hunt showdown to them, where I was a beginner getting in lobbies of all these die hard sweats and it was just no fun. The player base will just end up with similar niche unless they come up with some innovative steps I reckon.

Enjoyed it though and will probably buy it mainly as my mates have been gearing up for it for months now.

It's a good game for what it is, but it's also quite niche. There's a big enough audience for it but I think a lot of people will find the looting loop and getting ganked while trying to PVE, tiresome.

The game would probably have a broader appeal if it leaned closer to something like The Division, but that's just my personal preference.
