New build for potential 4k gaming

The only thing that would worry me a little long term is that the VRAM isn't that great on the 3080, is it the 10GB version or the 12 GB?, so I'd definitely just treat yourself to a nice high refresh rate OLED 1440 monitor, at £450 the dell AW2725D is still a bargain! and it does up to 280hz, which gives you some room to grow into

It’s the launch fe edition so 10gb I think.

It’ll last me u til the 5080 super drops next year

you won't even need the 5080 super at 1440p, save your money and stick with the 3080. 5080 super will probably be something stupid like £1200, plus it won't even be out untill the end of Q1!
suck it and see @1440p, it will taste greatwith the 3080
I do know someone who is playing at 4k with a 3080 at decent frame rates, but he is touching VRAM cloth now!

Which games do you intend playing? You are not going to be able to max out the latest games at 4k but do you really need to? Any game can use sufficient effects to crush any GPU. And older games will run just fine. And then there's upscaling.

I've been gaming at 4k for over a decade, since GTX 780 Ti days. In fact, I bought my first 4k monitor from OCUK in April 2014, a Samsung U28D590.
But what is the experience like? You will have to turn down settings a lot.
1440p is the sweet spot atm.

Really?

It turns out I don't actually play any of this year's games so I fired up the Black Myth Wukong benchmarking tool. I'm using a RTX 4090 )driver v581.57) on a Ryzen 9800X3D. At 4k Borderless with High settings, Medium RT, and Performance DLSS I get 80 fps. At 4k Borderless with high settings, Medium RT, and Quality (66) DLSS I get 60 fps. No frame generation.

I think you need to rethink 4k gaming.

yeah that's pretty bad, that game is pretty unoptimised. Performance scaling looks horrid.
