Trading the stockmarket (NO Referrals)

IONQ has started its upward climb again, thank goodness. I put all my chips on it on the rumour of US gov buying quantum stakes.
the 3 main quantum stock all had a + this morning so looking good

I won't be buying any more Beyond Meat now, I will just let the small fun holding I have sit and pray for a short squeeze.

I won't consider buying any more unless it gets back down to pre-squeeze rumour levels, i.e. around $0.53.
stoploss? or

Too stressful for me, i got in around 1.34 and sold for just over $6. Super lucky, but everyone was holding out for this to be the next GME. I am going stick to S&P and QQQ. Set and forget.

My main aim, percentages aside, is to make more passive income on average per month than my monthly expenditure.

Then I'll retire properly or go part time and I'll use it as a bridge fund until I get to pension age.

I seem to be well on track for that with my ETFs and more is nice but I don't feel the need to risk up, currently.

I think it's important to have a specific goal /ideal outcome rather than just 'make loadsa dosh' as that will dictate your strategies and risk appetite to a large extent?

I've tried their products and I'm unconvinced a market exists for them outside of trying to get fast food restaurants to have it as the only non meat option on the menu.

Being vegetarian or vegan is a growing trend I think.
yes but eating ultra processed products that are linked to cancer isnt, people want whole foods

The whole Beyond meat crap ETHICAL meat for real meat eaters.... was great in the hipster ethos era.

WHERE ARE ALL THE HIPSTERS NOW? AND THE ECO BROTHERS? who only want ethically sourced products on their plate?

remember the ethical investors too lol, wonder how well their portfolios are doing.

if the price was around £3 i would be buying more often but at £4.50 its to expensive for me :/
theres a market for it, and i feel its a closer offering to real meat than some of the other burgers out there like the quorn ones, which are blander

Thing is a lot of vegans /veggies, or at least the ones I know, cook pretty much everything from scratch as there's a whole world of recipes out there.

Meat substitutes have thier place in the market IMO for sure but also I think it's nieve to think it will become a staple in the pantries of most veggies /vegans.

I mean look at Quorn, it's basically occupying the same market space with big supermarket presence already so they also have stiff competition.

and like half as expensive as beyond meat, not that great either.
its a highly completive market and they aren;t priced attractively.
rarely you see them on sale for £2 a pack in morrisons, I guess they have to clear stock no one is buying

As one of the guys I work with quite often says "I'm a vegan, why would I want to eat something that's imitating meat?"

Well indeed. Also as a meat eater myself, one of the the best vegan things I've ever eaten was a spicy wrap with tofu rather than say chicken, it was absolutely delicious.. So they are competing with tofu also.
I bought it from a food truck /pop up called 'vegan AF' which I also found highly amusing lol!

Not entering a side debate but chose as an investment (gambling) vehicle although I do like the burgers but yeah better eating fresh

Lots of people like meat but they dont like the harm the industry causes to animals. Thats really for a different thread though. IMO the big gains will come from the big breakthrough in lab grown meat rather than these very expensive inferior plant based meat alternatives.

Yeah that will be a game changer... Imagine specifying a steak the exact weight and dimensions with your preference of more or less marbling.. I'd buy into that.

But that's more bio-tech than hipster food.Co

made from human muscle... yummy.. even the cannibals will be happy !

ethical harm to animals is defiantly another thread, theres also a lots of meat wastage which is also another thread or similar enough to be in the ethics thread.

if it drops some more i may put a punt in for long term to see what happens

Not sure if it’s a really good idea or a really bad one, but I’ve been putting some money into WisdomTree Physical Bitcoin (WXBT) for my daughter. With how poor junior savings rates are, I figured I’d use this as her long-term platform instead. She’ll get it when she turns 16 — she’s 4 now, and I’ve already put in a few thousand (from her birthdays, gift money etc), with DD setup for £100 each month.

Either she’ll get a free ride through uni… or it’ll be worth nothing

Yes, a bit extreme — but where’s the fun in playing it safe?
I already invest through ETFs, but this is more of a long-term punt for her. Over 12+ years, something like this could end up outperforming the S&P
