*** Official Ubiquiti Discussion Thread ***

If I were looking at the UniFi U7 APs, I'd look at either the U7 Pro XG or the XGS, as they both work well and run cooler without the need for a fan like the older U7 range.

Is anyone else running a cloud gateway max? If so have you ever just had it crash to the point I had to turn the plug off at the wall and turn it back on to restart it? I am not sure what the cause was as all that shows in the logs is the wired devices disconnecting. It is not in an enclosed space or anything

SFP Wizard

Interested to see how useful this actually is, testing light levels is pretty straight forward on most switches which have the ability within the cli. I have a cisco sfp to ethernet which worked no problem at all in cgf, also tested an aruba 10gb dac which is working perfectly.

Can you reprogram non-Ubiquiti SFPs with their SFP Wizard?
Potentially yes. (Some testing has been done in the reddit link below)

Essentially you can read a config from an existing SFP and then write it to another (intended for Ubiquiti's but working for some others e.g. FS). Note there is no saving or loading of profiles - just a read from one and then write that image to others.

I've got a UXG-Gateway Max that I have just upgraded from (to a Cloud Gateway Fiber).

The max was absolutely rock solid. Never had any issues - sorry.

I'm quite envious of people with the space to have racks. Especially when I look at North American houses :D my tiny new build barely has a single cupboard.

I had a larger rack but we moved into a barn conversion cottage with low roofs and wooden beams so it had to go, hence the mini racks. :)
