*** The Official Elite: Dangerous Thread ***

There is a Halloween treasure hunt thing going on at the moment with some ship skins and a suit, plus cash. To do it properly you have to follow breadcrumbs over 6 systems. Though if you just want to skip to the end and get all the stuff you can just do the final plant in a oner. CMDR Mechan has a quick guide on his channel for the whole thing, but as I say just go direct to the last planet in the list. There is a time limit to get the rewards which I believe runs till 3rd November.
Ahh, that would be what the in game message I accidentally deleted earlier was then :D

Panther Clipper MK2 now available for credits, I picked one up this morning and spent some funds kitting it out, awaiting some of my far flung gear to be shipped over to finish and I need to go on a materials run for engineering a few things but darn, the thing ships! It's a nice surprise that it has a decent range on it too and I was easily able to get it from Shinrarta back to my colony without needing to stop for fuel or any need of a scoop.
I am tempted to get one and make it into a barebones trader. I have never really got on with my Cutter and I find the T9 is overheating badly since I fitted SCO drives. If I shift some modules around it shouldn't cost too much.

I am just finishing up engineering mine. it's a beast. flies over 400 on boost over 1200 capacity. jump range a little limited but almost 30ly under load (at a guess)

it's also way easier to fly in super cruise. against npcs I reckon I should be able to beat interdictions but even if not, not much will mass lock it (and what can, won't keep up with it)

What's the build on that? Care to share? I just bought one today and I'm mulling over my options.

Also been on holiday last week so just completed the Halloween event not complex but 40mill and some skins isn't bad reward for a diverting jaunt in the Mandy.

sure. am not saying it's especially meta or anything (I will probably drop the mine launchers tbh and may add a point defence or heat sink on the empty slot

just got to engineer the shield to class 5 then it's about ready to trade I think

@bigmike20vt Cor that's an aggressive build:-D I don't think I'd give up my advanced docking computer or supercruise assist for that little cargo space. I think I'm going to go one size larger on the shield and included a FSD booster for more flexibility, but may change that in the future. Thanks for sharing.

Hmmm... maybe I should fit a smaller shield to mine, was tempted to run shield-less like I have been my T9 lol...

You need a pretty hefty shield on the PC to account for its size. IIRC no un-engineered size 5 shield is big enough. A size 6 prismatic plus shield boosters is plenty IMNSHO if want a shielded Clipper

Well the dev log from tonight has certainly thrown the cat amongst the pigeons...

I really hope that player backlash will cause FD to back track a little on the absolute ******** of permanently locking content behind the arx paywall.

50000 arx is like 2 and a half years solid of maxing out your 400 weekly cap, so yes definitely locked behind real cash. And I certainly didn't pick up on any suggestion the normal ship pre-order thing was in effect such that it would be unlocked for everyone after a certain time, so yes it looks to be a permanent lock. And given this new stations advantages it is clearly pay to win this time, or at the very least pay to win adjacent. Not that I personally care about colonisation, but as far as I can see only players will ever build them, so its not like they will pop up in npc systems for me to experience for variety. This one does feel icky. The SS Voyager does does very cool though.

Allegedly, one of the stream partners asked for clarification and was told it is definitely not early access as with ships.

it's an absolute disgrace.
I paid a (for me) obscene amount for elite dangerous.

part of this was the promise that I would get all expansions and content updates. released for the game for free. (earnable in-game) all except for cosmetics (a later small print addition)

this dodo breaks that.... and also I don't think you can use micro for any transaction which costs more than the game itself!

on the bright side the operations sound interesting .

I haven't played in quite some time, but I like how Starfleet has opened a shipyard and love the look of their Caspian Explorer. So when i can purchase one I may come back and head off into the black to see if I can finally find myself an unexplored system to put my name on.

I'm also a holder of an LTP, for which I've paid roughly £12/annum for the privilege (and with every passing year that Frontier stay in business that's reducing), and I've seen the amount of saltyness that the Cobra IV caused. I think for £25 the promise of being able to build the iconic station from '84 is worth every penny. Some people spend more than that on take away coffee a month.

It could be £1000 for all I care, the issue as I see it is that the only way to get one.

just to clarify - weekly cap is 800 arx - 400 in live and 400 in legacy. Now, is anyone willing to grind 400/week in legacy is another matter.
