Another vote for LG Direct Drive here, had ours for 6 years so far and its great and pretty much silent.
Yes, in my opinion. It's an LG, it's got a 5 year warranty, and the reviews of it on the site are good.Good call? Due to them being included in the various places I've lived i haven't actually bought a washing machine since about 2006.
It arrived yesterday, motor is much quieter then the Hotpoint in our old house. This however has the odd effect that you can hear the pump workingGood one to buy, just as long you are happy with the noise?
It has an array of smug little chirps and fanfares depending on what exactly it's up to.
Also may look to buy a new washing machine soon. @K.C. Leblanc as you've had this LG one for a few months now, how's it been overall since then?I'm about to pull the trigger on this.

Something that I've noticed in one of the reviews is that they've mentioned "you don't know how long the cycle will take until you're already committed to the wash"
Is that the case?
It can be caused by a tiny amount of dirt or even a strand of hair. Wipe the door seal and glass with a damp cloth, then dry off - this is normally enough to clean dirt away and prevent any leaks.Ahh cool, thanks!
I wonder what's causing the intermittent dribble? Does that happen after each wash?
Disappointed guys, all I see these days is recommend a washing machine, recommend a dishwasher, recommend a tumble dryer.
What happened to you all?
Where’s all the team red v team green fanboy arguments?
Anyway, I guess we all grow up, get old and put that petty differences behind us. (Team LG all the way, none of that Hotpoint rubbish, I hear their motors are crap).
Our LG gave up after just over 2 years and was out of warranty. It wrecked a load of clothes in the process.Going to buy one in the next few months as I complete on a new place (hopefully) and was looking at the Bosch series 6/8. Any idea how they compare to the LG? Seimens as well, but that seems to be the same as Bosch when speaking to their rep at John Lewis.
I thought LG ones come with 5 year warranty? Our LG gave up after just over 2 years and was out of warranty. It wrecked a load of clothes in the process.
In hindsight I wish I had coughed up for a Bosch. Decided not to make that error again and have been happy with my Series 4 over the last couple of years.
