Right going to try a few solo runs to get to grips with it.

People sure are friendly in solo at this time of day, 9/10 people that I've run into today havent wanted to fight or have wanted to team up, I've done about 10 quests today due to that
Opposite experience for me this afternoon. Playing solo, at least half have attacked with some even pretending to be friendly before shooting. A lot more camping extraction points, too. Beginning to get a bit "sweaty" now that many people have learned the ropes. I might do a @ne0 and attack everyone on sight now !

I just bought this and played for 90 minutes or so. I was prepared to buy at the user £50+ after seeing good reviews, so I was surprised to see it was only £30.99 on Steam. What is that all about?

I had a good time, I can't believe how many friendly interactions I've had as well, more than negative ones. I'm still not entirely sure what I'm doing but it's good fun so far.

Thats unfortunate ! I've done 7 hours today, only 2 people in the whole of that 7 hours attacked, every other person was a "dont shoot" or helped out, some even healed me/put shields on me before waving and running off

I'm so used to shooting first from other extraction games. I finished someone off who was about to extract but wasn't quick enough to extract myself then someone naded me while i hid from some enemies. Karma!

OK, ignore this post. I was building the flame thrower in the inventory which takes 1 burner and air spray loot, didn't realise you can actually equip the burner on its own and hoss it like a grenade. You can get the kill with anything with it, fireballs are a good target if they've not seen you.

Pleh, I can't complete the quest "What goes around" where you have to destroy and ARC enemy using a Fireball Burner, I've crafted like 3 and used 3 from the Deck rewards, killed several fireballs, mites, a camera, and even a wasp with one. No luck. All the quests behind it are locked :/
Think it was a wasp that I did it on, I buttered the wasp up with a few rounds first to get it wounded then lobbed a burner at it and let the burn DoT kill it

For me, this is exactly what I love about the game; having to second guess people's intentions. I don't think you need to attack everyone on sight (I let loads go especially if they haven't seen me) but definitely just keep your wits about you the whole time and don't trust anyone. I think people playing this game without wanting any agro at all are playing the wrong game. All this "don't shoot!" nonsense is hilarious. If they ever add servers with no PvP it'll ruin the game and will certainly put me right off because everyone on my server will want a shoot out and that's predictable and not fun. It just becomes COD at that point.

I don't want to fight everyone I see, but I do want to know there is a risk they will try and screw me over at any point because that's fun and exciting.

I’ve been trying to get into this over the last few days and……I’ve killed people, been killed, teamed up etc and the loot just seems the same old over and over with the odd epic here and there. I can’t see me wanting to play much longer in all honesty.

Either you shop for them or they shop for you kind of experience. Nothing special.

I partly agree ... but in my experience PvPvE games almost always fail unless there is a logical reason behind the PvP component. If I was in Embark's shoes, I would have created the game with two opposing human factions ( and ARC as a mutual enemy for both ) ; that way there would be a reason for enagaging in PvP. You could still kill players from your own faction but there would be a consequence for doing so ie. a reputation system that would penalise repeat offenders and flag them as untrustworthy.

As things stand, from a narrative perspective, it makes zero sense why players are killing each other. The lore for this game is that humans are on the verge of extinction and have been driven underground for safety. All ARC need do is wait for us bozos to knock each other off !
