Halo (TV Series)

Funnily enough there was a comment on X earlier about this on an Article about Activision getting cold feet about Steven Spielberg, you know, only the most successful Director EVER with over $10Bn in box office taking throughout his career, having complete creative control over the movie version and I referenced Halo. Create a series about a hugely popular games franchise with deep lore and millions know and love, cancel it when the main character finally reaches the place the whole thing is named after. Peak US TV Executive aura.

It got better (I won't say good) because their messing with the Franchise was obviously going to get it cancelled. So they toned down the madness. Same happened with Wheel of time. But too late.

I thought the production was ok, the acting ok or was just the story arc I had a problem with. Maybe it's a reboot like reacher.

It's the fact they cancelled it just as Master Chief arrived at the Halo. You know, the whole point of the series and the thing the series was named after. TV writers thinking they know better again.

One of my favorite series ... I really enjoyed it and didnt really understand all the complaining how people would say its different then the video games and rate it bad ... rate it bad and show gets cancelled; what would you rather watch - not Halo or some other lame show? ... Season 3 would be awesome with the flood.

For sure, this is one of my all-time favorite shows! I'm really hoping they bring it back or at least create a full-length movie to wrap things up, instead of leaving us hanging.
I agree - sure the show wasnt perfect - but for what it was halo universe it was Awesome! the end of season 2 geez such potential.

How is it tv writers know better? They didn't cancel it.
But instead of following the established story and lore they decided they'd write their own piece 'based within' or 'based on' and it's clear that wasn't what the fans wanted as no one watched. Although sticking it on a niche streaming service didn't help either.

It is possible for Writers to do their own thing but keep the fans happy, Fallout shows that, but most TV adaptations of Video games generally don't last beyond 1 or 2 seasons, IMO anyway, because the Writers do their own thing and write their own story, not what the fans want and expect. I worry about the Mass Effect series coming from Amazon too as the writers are doing their own thing, although I agree writing the Shepard trilogy would be very difficult to keep everyone happy, and likely miss keep plot points that many think are vitally important.

Well they changed things but they're still mostly following the established story. The Halo story doesn't start with Halo itself. They probably could have compressed it down to one season before Halo but that might have been too short to do Spartan training and the fall of reach. A tv show that just did the story of the game 'Halo' would be pretty dull and insanely expensive.
