On The Wagon... then in 'ere!

Also sorry to hear about your brother, that’s my age too and I can feel alcohol taking its toll on me.
I guess it depends how much you're drinking. Honestly the biggest benefit I've seen is my wallet, its amazing how much I've saved.

I will be getting some 0% beers for Christmas, what do people recommend?

I can't remember the last time I had an AF beer, just really not bothered anymore, but the one I favoured (despite I would never have chosen the alcohol version when I was drinking) was Heineken Zero

Guinness zero is also good and I really don't mind the Kopperberg AF either

Comfortably past the 18 month mark now.

Prior to that I drank heavily almost every day for 30 years.

Some things are massively different, others aren't .
Congratulations! What things didn't change after you stopped, can I ask?

Sol zero and Peroni zero when the weather is hot. I'm like many in here though, it's taken me since last Xmas to get half way through a 12 pack of sol zero. It's been over 8 years now since I had an alcoholic drink, I'd rather have a cup of tea lol

{SAS}TB, RL best mate, we grew up together and known each other since we were two, each others best mans etc. We were both on a path to severe alcoholism from probably an early age if we're honest, most of our lives from 13/14 onwards involved getting paralytic. Nothing was too much, I was drinking vodka and benylin (cough medicine) before school discos, age 14. There's times I've woken up in bushes, streams or simply the road.

It all sounds quite humourous and from the perspective of distance of time, some of it probably is but a lot of was pretty disgusting tbh and probably did a reasonable amount of damage, I know I certainly have some health issues that could be related.

I stopped dead after my eldest was born, wasn't exactly a light switch moment but I just didn't want her seeing me like that. Wife still drinks but she has a glass of wine about twice a week, I could never do that it was a false economy, if I was having a drink I was getting wrecked.

Just past the 3 months for me. My last drink was over August bank holiday, and not touched it since. One morning I woke up and tipped every bottle down the sink, and there was a lot.
Alcohol was giving me some dark thoughts so I decided enough was enough.

Still a terrible poster.

Simple answer is "Life". Things can still be great and they can also still be ****. Have to be more grown up with coping and responding to such things rather than mañana-ing my way through it.

A week gone by already, surprising as time normally slows not drinking! Not a drop still (felt a bit lost yesterday with football and being the weekend) but pushed through. According to my watch sleep has massively improved along with a lower resting heart rate trend, very rewarding to see.

Frightening but good to see the drastic changes so quickly once you stop. I never had a watch last time I stopped so it’s good motivation. Also it’s amazing how much you notice alcohol on TV when you aren’t drinking

Just passed another milestone
