That's exactly what we do. If we want warm we turn the thermostat up. It's usually off.
Winter 2025/2026 - Cold or Mild?

My toes seem to be struggling during this cold spell for the first time ever - cannot warm them up, even when our heating has been on. Despite also wearing some Bridgedale merino wool hiking socks, toes are still ice cold 
Might be a circulation problem, although the rest of my body doesn't feel cold. I'm trying to move round the house every so often to see if that helps, which it hasn't been.
I don't know if an electric blanket will help, but might have to get one and try at this point.

Yeah I am freezing today, even with the heating cranking away. It's been pouring down all day though, that's not helping. Miserable weather.Ever seen I've been ill this year and lost a ton of weight, the cold has really got to me. It's supposed to be less cold today and I feel as cold as I did yesterday. 19C in doors feels like 15
My hands are barometers as to whether I turn the heating on. The first part to feel the cold.
Finish Midday on Fridays so down to the beach near where I work again, lovely change from the cold and wet stuff

End of the model runs show the mild conditions getting quite violently lashed away in mid December - but not sure if that means much, or whether it would be replaced by cold or immediately rebound as that is beyond the models.
Yep, heating's been on all day. Maybe tomorrow...It's still frosty here

Snowing lots over the last couple days, so pretty...
