Who owns a Golf GTD / GTI / R?

@Flibster There's very, very little that can be done with OBDEleven at this stage thanks to SFD2 having not yet being unlocked. I bought an OBDEleven whilst waiting for my Golf R to arrive and it's pretty much a paperweight.

I'd really like to keep the speed monitoring and lane assist permanently disabled but for not it's just part of the getting in the car routine. It may be the same with the Cupra, but the option to turn them of using the steering wheel on the Golf R is dependent on which digital dash view you're using. Luckily for me my preferred view has the options available through the wheel.
Huh... Well that's complete pants.

So the people who have recommended them to me for tweaks must have the pre-facelift then.

Most likely - I would suspect most people aren't doing much to cars that are in warranty anyway to avoid trouble if anything software related goes awry and the dealer just fobs you off because there's records of changes being made.

Another 2017 mk7.5r lurker here after picking up 2 weeks ago.
Oryx white and looks a massive pita for stone chips being a pearl white fell back onto these forums with the dq381 software check. Mine had it in 2023 but apart from it being on the service history im not sure if they replaced anything.
Previously owned a mk5 r32 on a mk2 Octavia i did a k04 hybrid and haldex awd swap from a yeti on blew that up at Donington Park though after blowing an oil cooler!

Well, I'll be 'inheriting' our JCW Clubman 306 as my daily as we've bought a 2024 Countryman S to be the new family car (Which incidentally is truly excellent).

That means my Mk5 GTI will be moving on.... its been good fun for a couple of years. Someone will get a great daily there :)

Enjoy your stealth/sleeper version of the M135i

We’re in talks with Awesome GTI regarding some upgrades to the Formentor. Had a chat with MrsHB as I bought the car for her really, in terms of putting our name down for the RHD VZ5. Circa £70k which is a lot, and MrsHB prefers the Mountain Green of her existing one which they don’t offer on the new one.

We are visiting/chatting with a Cupra dealer on Friday of this week.

Matthew at Awesome GTI quoted me (With Black Friday pricing) - Ditch ABT box, remap ECU and TCU (If they can verify the version and it’s unlocked) with some Racingline mods, like induction kit and some wheel spacers for about £1700.

The outcome would be a MY24, with 14k on it with circa 405BHP so similar to the VZ5 power but in the colour she likes, and with the Maxton kit on it. And it would save me circa £35k as I bought the VZN outright.

Not good news.

The dealership (Heyseldon, Doncaster) that I had my Golf R order through has gone into administration.

Apparently they shut up shop Friday last week, but I only found out earlier this evening after seeing an email from the showroom manager.

Paid £3k deposit (£1k by credit card, £2k by BACS) 18th November. No idea where I stand right now.

Called the VW customer support number earlier today and the lady I spoke to took a few details from me and did confirm that they were aware of the situation with the dealership and would send me an email to obtain some details about the order. Within 10 minutes the email arrived and I have sent them proof of the order and deposits paid.

So far it's not the greatest of experiences, but I can't really worry too much for now. I'll see how things go for the next few days, and take it from there.

What a horrible situation for you. Hopefully VW Customer Services will somehow sort your situation.

The same customer service lady called me back first thing this morning to confirm all of the details they had requested had been received. I'm due to get a further call back from someone within the next week.

So a possible positive update. Had an email come through from VW earlier today to confirm the order is confirmed. It's not from the customer support team or a specific person, but more of an automated email. It's got the virtual brochure for my order/spec's etc. I take it this is just normal for a VW order?

If this is a positive step, then I'll see what the call brings in due course.

It's normal.

These emails are a little interesting. I know of many people that didn't receive them at all and some that received them months after getting their car.

I'd interpret it as a positive step.

First oil change and inspection on the Cupra today. 2 hours, clean bill of health and they commented positively on the colour. Even washed it despite me asking them not too! Discussed the VZ5 IN RHD, circa £70k which is a lot. They reckoned they would struggle to get a slot but MrsHB decided she wants to keep her VZN so saves me circa £35k to ‘upgrade’ - She did like the Tavascan and we looked around one, until I advised her it was electric.

We went go get a fry up, they rang to say all done with a video checklist so a positive experience, but for the price (£259) I’d expect good service. Although of the 3 localish dealers, this one was the cheapest.

£70k... Ouch. It'd be something special, but ~10k more than the base model RS3, it needs to be special. It'll come with more toys as standard, probably the only options will be colour, towbar and panoramic sunroof, but even then it's scarily close to a top spec RS3. I also do think they need to put the 5 cylinder in the Leon (probably the estate for the 4wd). I know the Formentor is their own thing rather than a rebadged Seat, but a 400bhp 4wd estate sounds like a really nice thing.

So, with the 35k - That's a remap, big brake kit (not the bendy brembo's), exhaust, intake, intercooler and many spare moneys for fuel, tyres and sweeties. ;)

anyone know much about VW Service Plans, my son bought a GTI Performance a few months back - VW Approved and when I go into the vw website to see how much a service plan for it would be it says 'your vehicle currently has an existing Volkswagen Service Plan. Please contact your local retailer for more information.'. Don't think he paid too much attention to what the salesman was saying so he doesn't know. My thought is that it's either the previous owner who had it or it's possibly part of the sale. If it was the previous owner does anything need to be done to transfer it. I'll get him to phone the dealer but thinking about how to word the discussion to make sure if it was the previous owners plan it gets transferred to him if possible.

hope that makes sense.

When I bought my VW Approved GTI Performance earlier this year you could pay £99 for 2 years servicing , and if you used VW finance you got 2 years Warranty too (even if you withdrew from the agreement within 14 days and financed the car yourself ), maybe your son paid the extra ?

I’m waiting for a call back from our local Cupra dealer this week. Having just paid £259 for an oil change and high level inspection, we got home and I thought I’d check service plans on the Cupra website and apparently our car has a service plan.

MrsHB called them on Sat to confirm and was fobbed off by some guy spouting GDPR. I called 10 mins later and after a discussion, the chap confirmed the Cupra has a service plan until 2028 which we didn’t know. Apparently he now needs to get retrospective approval from Cupra HQ and assuming they approve, our £259 will be refunded.

When we booked it in, MrsHB was asked if we had a plan, and she replied saying she didn’t know so they clearly didn’t bother checking in any way.
