The England Cricket Thread

Useful runs but do we want to get out to bowl tonight, looked like Stokes was immintently about to declare until this started.

Hopefully Brooks, Pope and Jacks weren't watching how easy it was for Archer at the end of the day and think they can replicate it with a fresher ball in the second innings.

That last hour so was a proper roller coaster. First hoping for Root to finally do it and he did, then the collapse and then the fire works.

To be fair some of the bowling to Archer was atrocious (and somewhat disrespectful) and got the punishment it deserved such as when Strac blowed Archer a full toss which Archer despatched for six.

Hopefully these two can stick it out for an hour and get England over 350.

Another terrible day for England, awful inconsistent bowling made even worse by some of the worst fielding I've ever seen at an international level so many absolute sitters put down and the keepers confidence seemingly shot after 4 days cricket down under. Only two enjoyable moments were Jacks catch and Carse cleaning up Green with a yorker when he was setting himself up 3 feet out side leg to hoik a bouncer. It's already a long way back for England in this match and you feel if Australia add even 50/60 runs tomorrow they will be out of sight.

If it's any consolation, you can usually rely on Australia to lose a wicket within the first 15 minutes of Day 3.

Fearing a 5-0 now. Before the series started I suspected we needed to be a couple of tests up before our extremely fragile but potentially dangerous bowling attack broke down with injury.

Now it's looking like it's just a fragile bowling attack..

Not a great score to wake up to, but looks like they've decided to not play like idiots for a little while! Hopefully can get multiple good partnerships going and play sensible shots through to the end of the day!

Stokes could turn this around if England puts a large number of runs on the board, then gets Australia out before their combined 1st and 2nd innings totals are higher than England's. But that's the only way I see England winning from here.

Realistically we're going to need to get 450+ to give ourselves a fighting chance. Will be interesting to see how this pitch holds up going into day 4 and if the spinners will come into play.
