*** The Official Nintendo Switch 2 ***

In one of the switch 2 reviews i watched it showed the screen being to dark in some places
But am not sure if this is the specific issue..
I have the TR 1-3 Remasters and played through TR2 and some of TR1 & 3 on Switch 2.

On all platforms it has issues where the lighting is a bit too dark in some places, it did cause me to get stuck a couple of times as I couldn't spot a passage/switch. Switches & pickups are a little harder to see in general, but you can press Start anytime to switch to the old graphics which make's things easier to see. For the most part I was able to play through without it hindering things though.

The only issue I noticed which I think is specific to Switch 2, is the main menu (title screen) for TR2 has some flickering icons - but it's still usable, and it's fine if you just change to the old graphics with Start.

Prime 4 looks good but I disagree. There's some nice details and art direction is great, and having options for 4k and 120 FPS is nice, but graphically it's a bit inconsistent. MKW and DKB are more impressive game's techincally imo, all things considered.
I guess they've based it on the relative highs vs the framerate stability; either way, its good to have OPTIONS of things to discuss as the technically superior titles :)

Small headsup, for anyone who wants it, Mario Party Jamboree (Switch 2 version) is available sub £50 on Monster Shop atm, inc shipping.
They're smaller, but have heard of them before and they take Paypal so going to give them a chance.

I got a first order 5% off too, so it was about tenner cheaper than next cheapest place :)

I think it's a fair opinion to have yeah, especially if in broader terms of 'technically' overall rather than what it achieves on a baseline graphical level (models, textures, lighting, shadows, effects etc).

I played through in the 4k mode and it was quite nice, replaying it now on hard at 120fps on my monitor and love how fluid it feels. Samus just feels great to control overall.

I see tomb raider 1 to 3 remastered has a great deal price on the store.
But it suffers from some screen problems on the switch 2 :(
What the chances these will be fixed ?

I bought it last night while it pretty cheap

But not sure if I will play it on my switch 2 as I already started playing through TR1 on my Gaming PC

But thinking i could try playing through TR2 on the switch 2 and use the PC for playing TR1

There are some good mods on PC that improve the visuals and audio further, and things like improving Key visibillity in TR1 (I think that might be the only real pickup visibility issue in the trilogy actually).

Even with the base game on Switch though the remastered lighting is pretty decent, there may be a few overly dark bits but they are few and far between and overall the visibility is better with remastered graphics.

Couple of comparisons (Switch 1 game's only take 720p screenshots, but the game is 1080p)

I liked playing with the new modern control scheme, if I had a few tips
  • In the few bits where it switches to a cinematic camera in gameplay, controlling with modern is really awkward - but if you pull out your weapons the cinematic camera won't trigger
  • Can push in Left Stick to open the Load menu, or Right Stick to open the Save menu any time
  • At first, I totally forgot you could hold RT (secondary action) while running off a ledge to grab it
  • Use the walk button plenty when needing to make smaller movements

Does any of you guys swap the A & B button mapping to be the same as other consoles ?

I have Jump on B and roll on A, but I can't recall if i changed it

One thing i noticed with this game on my PC & Switch is it far easier to control her by using an old playstation gamepad (In my case i got an old PS4 gamepad i use)
I find it really awkard to control if i try to use the analog stick on a gamepad
(The playstation 1 gamepads didn't have any analog sticks when TR1 got released ;))

Yeah I would definitely use a D-Pad if I was playing with the original tank controls (on a Playstation d-pad if I had one ofc, for the 'feels')

I find it's quicker to do things with Modern controls and stick feels fine, but sideflips/backflips are harder and take practice.

Oh you meant on a system level?, nah I'm more used to the Nintendo layout - I set it that way on PC too

Tempted to get the Octopath Traveller games. They look interesting. Anyone else got them?
I’ve got the first two but only played the first one. I love it, great story and characters. Beautifully crafted graphically and the music is fantastic. If you like old school turn based rpgs then yes you’ll love them too. Can get challenging but generally those challenges can be figured out OK. I mean it’s repetitive like the early FF games are - walk a bit, battle, level up, walk a bit, battle, level up some more, and so on but if you don’t mind that loop then go for it. Japanese voice acting with subs is the way to go imho.

Awesome. Thank you. I think I'll get the first two.

I leave it as is but I do struggle sometimes when I switch between the Switch and the PS5 or vice versa after a long stint with one or the other. I get used to it quickly enough though.
I keep swapping them buttons around for limited times so i then get totally confused
