Half-Life 3 Rumour Mill

While I'm not sceptical about HL3's announcement, I'm for some reason a little sceptical about them announcing it at TGA. It just doesn't seem very "Valve". They seem to just drop things completely at random these days, on their own pages/channels. They're so ubiquitous in the gaming space, most PC gamers probably have Steam running 24/7. It's almost like they don't even need or care about a big event to get eyes on something they announce.

Any. Like I said.

The best cheapest way to play Half Life Alyx before the release of Half Life 3 is just to wait until VR headsets are mainstream and it's like ready player one where VR is dirt cheap and almost like reality.

Or if you actually want to play Alyx in the 3 years or so, then probably the Quest 3 after Quest 4 comes out. The Quest 3 will be cheap as chips at that stage.

IF you want to play even sooner that, then a second hand Quest 3 is probably the best bet. Or maybe a Pico 4 if you don't like Meta. Or second hand Valve Index after the Frame is released if you like neither Meta or Bytedance.

No need to rush into making a decision, any of the 3 options above will let you play Alyx before HL3 is released.

If you had to estimate the chances if a reveal tomorrow I'd be at somthing like 2%. As much as I'm enjoying this HL3 chatter, I'm not convinced. I hope I eat my words!

If there is indeed an announcement of something major upcoming, I guess they would want to pair it with release of their new console. Does anyone think they would somehow try to increase sales by making it exclusive somehow? As it not available on other platforms for awhile? Would this even be possible?

I don't see any benefit whatsoever in making it exclusive to the SM. Plus it's a pc so you know.

The core market for the game is on PC.

I hope and think you're right. Just with the timings or all of this I had a few doubts creep into my mind but I think i'm just being pessimistic
