Used HWInfo to monitor the idle temps of my Crucial T710 PCIe 5.0 NVMe drive. Here's what I came up with...

So idling between 43C and 48C which is about right for this drive according to google. I've got the bare drive without a heatsink with a thermal pad on it using the motherboards heatsinks.

I just checked mine (Samsung 9100 Pro) and it is currently sitting at 43C. Same setup: no heatsink version, but sitting under Mobo-provided thermal pad/heatsink.

They can get hot when specifically benchmarking the SSD!

My 2TB 705 idles in the high 40s going up to low 60s when gaming, this is with motherboard heatsink

I had used all the thermal pads that came with the motherboard so bought a couple of new Akasa ones. They were £5.50 each.

Feels right around 40s, my current orico cheap drive with an large nvme heatsink, is sitting 46c but with a complete passive build (zero fans) and side panel off.

At load your looking at 70-s-80s easily which I don't like at long write times.

I would recommend Thermalright HR-09 2280 PRO nvme heatsinks though, there the best I have used ever and I have spent over £100s on nvme heatsink in the past and these really do cool well more so if you can get some active cooling on it even if it is a silent fan.

Well I got rid of most of the dust on the cases dust filters in order to improve airflow and now max temps idle at 39C max with an average of 37C. I left it idling for nearly two hours to get these readings...

According to google 39C idle is excellent for this drive but 43C to 48C is still in the normal range. I've got a good case known for its excellent air flow, the Fractal Torrent.

What's your ambient temperature out of interest?

The room my PC is in sits at around 20c and my idle temps are around the mid 30's. I have the same case as you, but do run the fans at around 60%. Your temps are fine for a gen 5 drive. If you have a higher ambient temp, and run your fans at a lower speed that would probably explain any differences (I get the drives are different too obviously)

Tested all drives connected to my Windows PC for idle temps...
