Yeah I can't stand that 80's style gap. I bet they're loud keys too, aren't they

I much prefer a laptop style closer key, like Apple also use.
I wouldn't trade my MX Keys S for anything

They're pudding caps, it's a optical illusion, just because there have light coming through the side of the keycap

They're pretty smooth and as they are hall effect with adjustable actuation point I can feather type for basically no sound which is nice.

The colour itself is a vivid red but it's not glaring at me, Camera really doesn't pick it up properly but it's very gentle on the eyes.

I just think 80's style keys/keyboards should stay in the past. I've always hated them, and we've come along way since, and shouldn't go back
But if you love it, that's all that matters.

As for lighting, I only enable my backlit keys when needed, but as with most people, I know what I'm pressing so don't need to read them, so leave it off.

I hate any form of distraction, even power LED's I'll often leave unplugged if they're in the line of sight, I recently put a little black square over my new monitors very bright white power LED, as it cant be turned off in the settings, and it's offset, which I also don't like

I dislike RGB but backlight keyboard is great, I prefer red though.

The keyboard is a modern mechanical hall effect that came out this year so definitely not 80's style, The keys are pudding keycaps i.e translucent sides, which gives them the look that they are spaced out. If I swapped the keycaps to standard white MX style caps it would look very different.

Have you got a picture of the keyboard without the rgb on, showing the full size?
When I say 80's style, I refer to the shape of the keys and the spacing, along with the keyboard's frame usually having large edges around it, frame wise.

There is massive choice in keyboards, probably moreso than the 80's.

I bet you didn't know this choice exists in keycap shape? That's not including switch type, brand etc etc

Yeah I'm familiar, none of which I like. I want a short travel flat or centre domed, close keys, keyboard.
TLDR, if looks like either of these below, and it has keys in this 80's/90's style, I hate it

Or the frame is big around it, again nope from me!

Yeah, that's not for me I'm afraid. It just looks like a modern take on a horrible 80's keyboard.
The USA size enter key is something I dislike, and the keys are so tall/spaced too far apart, along with the massive frame around it and key layout, and missing num pad.

Each to their own though If you like it, that's all that matters.
I also find the price that people charge for these mechanical keyboards is rather OTT.

I just use one of these (BUT the UK version not the USA version with the smaller enter etc, this also appears to be the mx keys, not the 's' which I have, so mine has updated symbols/type face)

2.4GHz and BT, the battery lasts upto 4 months with the backlight off or 10 days of heavy use, it's metal and heavy, so never moves around the desk mat. I can sync multiple devices to it and use them at the same time, all via Logi Bolt 2.4Ghz and or BT, which is something that I use daily, and it supports Mac, Windows, Linux, Android

I tried one of those a while ago, They're decent but for me they are better suited to a work environment where you need your stuff to be a bit more minimalist. Now if we could have a Tron style keyboard with laser projection onto a piece of glass from underneath I'd be all over that

I adore it, as my favourite keyboard before it, was the Mac Pro keyboards, then the wireless varients - but they were only BT to 1 device, and very expensive.
It's pretty much a copy of this, but better:

But it has more features such as the 2.4GHz and pairing via that or BT to 3 devices all at once. Which I use for 2 PC's, daily.

It's amazing for gaming thanks to the close short fire keys and the 2.4GHz. It's a beast to type on, and I went straight from a Mac to this, without even giving it a second thought, because the key's are spaced/travel exactly the same (from what I can feel/tell) so it's been a lovely experience, versus having to 'get used to something new' etc. Which no-one likes.
This is a muscle memory joy to use.

Yeah, any of those glass keyboards from the movies where they pretend to type, are awesome, haha!

I think it looks and feels like it's price tag too - this is the mx keys not the 's' that I have, and is obviously the USA layout enter key, but you get the idea. Mine has better type faces/symbols on it, but you get the idea. This is just a nice shot

It's ******* heavy! Which I like, as I say it stays where you put it, unlike the Apple keyboards when on a desk mat.

A little off topic here, but I hate those type of keyboards. I hate laptop keyboards and I hate Mac keyboards. The keyboards that work supplies have those flat keys and I bought a cheap wireless keyboard+trackpad combo that has those style of keys.
Now admittedly neither of them are probably the best example of those types of keyboards. They all just feel like laptop keyboards to me, which I've never liked as they always seemed like they were just saving space out of necessity.

I also bought some MX-7 but only got the 4g tube as I still have an unused 4g tube of MX-6 and a silly amount of MX-4, not to mention the thermal paste that came with my coolers.
Not actually sure when I'll try it out as I don't have any plans to repaste anything at the minute.

Enjoy your temps being the same as any other paste Make sure you come back and tell us that it's 0.5C cooler

Having recently used MX6 I'm not sure I want something with higher viscosity. It was hard enough getting MX6 out of the tube evenly at 20C ambient

i have to admit to being tempted by the mx7 myself ive got a tube of mx6 sat here but from what i gather the mx6 needs repasting fairly often
and as stupid as this sounds 0.5c lower temps is actualyl more than i was expecting i get quiete excited over a 0.2c difference byut ive got an obsession with ott aircooling and seeing
how far i can get on iar which is kinda a pointless side quest of a hobby in of itself
i also need to look into getting a better keyboard at somepoint
but the only ones ive used that i actually like i bought the last box of ten that they had
and ive got one on the desk im using and one in the box left the other 8 have been destroyed by now LOL!
keyboards are a really personal subject ive noticeed
i prefer mine to have as little resistance as possible so a laser projected faux touch screen type thing would be perfect lol
