BMW and M Power Owners

A friend has an F87 M2 Comp with the M Performance brake kit (6 piston front, 4 piston rear).
He's looking for a set of winter wheels, but I have no idea about clearance.
The stock setup is Front: 9,0J x 19" ET 29 mm, Rear: 10,0J x 19" ET 40 mm (styling 788M)
I know that he needs 19" to clear the brakes, but will Front: 8,5J x 19" ET 27 mm Rear: 9,0J x 19" ET 29 mm (styling 641M) clear the brakes?

I assume it's diameter rather than thickness, so the narrower setup shouldn't be a problem?

For like for like wheels, changing to a lower ET won’t generally cause any issues, it just moves the wheel hub face more towards the wheel center, so you get more dish. The problem is it is hard to say when the wheel style is being changed as it depends on the spoke design but in general lower offset usually doesn’t cause issues with brake clearance, what it might do is cause the tyre to foul on the wheel arch lip under suspension compression but as the new wheels are narrower, that should mitigate that problem.

I've found some stuff online and it seems they should clear, but only with the staggered setup. Apparently the US/Canada comps came with the BBK as standard, and the press cars ran 641M so it must fit. Waiting for confirmation from a supplier before we order but thanks :)

edit- Looks tight

M340i is going for warranty beginning of Jan, BMW said that if there's physical damage, it won't be covered and I'll need to pay for diagnosis and if I decide to repair it, for the repair.

I can't see any physical damage like stone chips, but we'll see what happens...

I sold my M850i last week :(
It was a great car, but I had only planned to keep it 2-3 years and had it 3.5. I went into it knowing I wouldn't want to be spending that much on a car that mostly sits on the drive (WFH) forever. Not sure where to go from here, possibly a sal sac EV scheme that work are looking into, but in the meantime will enjoy putting away the extra 900 a month or so.

I expect it would have needed new pads, discs, tyres, batteries all in the next year in addition to the major service. So that helped the decision.

Hefty depreciation on that?

My 530D goes this weekend, traded in.

Great car....occasionally, but tiresome issues have spoilt the ownership almost as much as busting 6 tyres on potholes (3 run flats in 1 week).

Most of said potholes would not have done my other cars tyres!

My FK8 CTR was like this. The tyres were practically painted on and it used to chew up anything on the road, always into the ******* sidewall. £250 a corner hurts once you're 5 or 6 tyres in. Especially when you kill one before they're even scrubbed in!

...it the 2 yes TWO wheels that also got buckled that hurt more and rears are 350 a pop!

Ah, the infamous BMW rear wheel buckling. You're lucky they didn't just crack!

I'm quite glad that my F30 is good at seeing its tyres through to the end of their life. I've probably cursed it now.

Just had a big service on the M2 (spark plugs, etc.) at a local main dealer as I got 15% discount on parts & labour as it's over 5 years old, which matched a reputable independent a fair drive away.

Anyway, what's the deal with diff servicing? It had the diff oil changed 2 years and 15,000 miles ago (currently on 46,000 miles)
I don't track it, but I do drive it hard and have done a drift day in it. Might do another drift day in February but is it worth doing a diff oil change?

Just bought some redex adblue. It's compliant .should be ok the 420d?

Adblue is adblue, fine for your car

Edit; did i not read that you’ve booked the car in for a service, why not get the dealership to top it up for free rather than use your own stuff? Unless its needed urgently.

Every 3rd oil service IIRC, so up to every 6 years/54k condition dependent.
