Arc Raiders

Useful thing to know for those of you just starting - If you call the extraction point before the time runs out you wont die even if the timer runs out, just make sure you press the extraction point before time hits zero, otherwise dead!
interesting. that will make the achievement to extract with is it under 5 seconds on the clock easier then?!.
I have not hung around to see what happens when the arc orbiter arrives . I plan ed on doing it but got a bit nervous and bottled it

even on a freebie, with next to nothing in my backpack, i for some reason get very very twitchy once that timer drops below 5 mins.....and when it hits sub 3, nothing's stopping me from bolting to the extract. team mates in trouble, don't care, that lift needs to be called and i need to be in it and pressing E!! i can't see me ever getting that sub 5sec achievement, certainly not through choice

Screen goes black and you die. After another of the big bombs arrive that you see at 5 and 2 minutes.
Unfortunately there's nothing to see other than that.

As said above tho, even if the timer runs out, if there's an elevator already on the way (called any time before the timer runs out), even if it hasn't arrived by the time the timer hits zero, then even after the big bomb hits (practically on top of you), you can safely extract.

I was really hoping to see some massive mother ship, or armada of Arc come swarming in to overwhelm you at the end, but it wasn't to be. Maybe they'll add something like it in the future.

Good to know, thank you.

I got the "less than 5 seconds" achievement the other night - was a bit of a 5p-50p moment, as I'd just found the bits I needed to upgrade my Refinery and the first time I'd ventured out with level 3 kit.

I got my 1st leaper kill today (no achievement for it though - I thought there was one.

it was on buried city and it tried to follow. me into the subway and trapped itself .
that's another level 3 bench upgrade checked off now :)

oh quick question. I was on the blue gate map and I found a massive engine .

I was able to put 2 energy cells into it which fired the engine up, spinning a massive turbine and firing off flames.

but other than that I could not see anything else to do with it.
Does anyone have any ideas please ?

How to complete the Deforester Husks Puzzle

Step 1: Locate the Structure

  1. Head to either of the two possible husk locations on the map — look for a large, walkable space-station-style structure.
  2. Approach the structure and search for electrified panels — these panels mark the start of the puzzle.
  3. Make sure the area is clear of enemies before beginning; once started, the puzzle is timed and dangerous.

Step 2: Insert Arc Power Cells

  1. Find the three interactors (control panels) scattered around the structure.
  2. Two of these panels require Arc Power Cells to activate.
  3. Locate Arc Power Cells nearby (they’re usually on the floor or beside machinery).
  4. Pick up each Arc Power Cell and insert it into its corresponding panel.
  5. Once both are powered, the puzzle sequence activates automatically — flames will begin firing.

Step 3: Navigate the Flames

  1. As soon as you activate the second panel, flames will start spewing across the interior of the husk.
  2. Watch the flame patterns and move only when it’s safe.
  3. After the second panel is powered, the upper platform begins to rotate, and the flames rotate with it, creating moving hazards instead of static ones.
  4. Stay patient — move between flame bursts to avoid taking damage and having to restart.

Step 4: Reach the Final Panel

  1. Climb the side of the structure and jump onto the upper platform — this shortcut saves valuable time (the puzzle is on a timer).
  2. Once on the platform, follow the rotation of the flames instead of running against them.
  3. Carefully weave through the moving flames until you reach the final control panel.

Step 5: Complete the Puzzle and Claim Rewards

  1. Interact with the final panel to complete the puzzle.
  2. Wait for the confirmation sound or visual cue — this means the challenge is complete.
  3. The reward container will unlock nearby.
  4. Open the loot chest to claim your weapons case and additional items.

Tips

  • Timing and precision are key—watch flame patterns carefully.
  • Climbing and jumping to the upper platform early can save precious seconds.
  • Bring friends for easier completion, especially if attempting both husks in a single run.

After you put the second cell in, a walkway is accessible directly above your head, exit out of the husk, and jump onto the walkway, dodge a bit of fire and interact with the button.
Loot was pretty disappointing when I did it.

Well I decided to buy the game and only done the intro mission.

Looks quite good so far looking forward to jumping on when I have more time.

Any tips\suggestions etc?

Don't be afraid to just free loadout it for a while. Also early on focus on building up your stash and getting your workbenches levelled up. You probably want looting augments to start if I'm honest. If you make it back with a free loadout, the grey box augment you get with free can be traded with Lance for a green one too. Quests come secondary imo.

treat people as you hope they will treat you. apparently the match making tries to match PvPers with other pvpers and I can only think that is why some people seem to always end up in some mad max scenario where as 90% of my interactions are none hostile.

I have heard to disable cross play for a better experience (Less PVP but unsure if that's true or not

A few random thoughts, from someone with far too many hours:

Don't engage with Arc unless you've got cover to get in to. They're extremely clever and will work out a line of sight to nail you, so make sure you use cover properly. Encounters can escalate quickly, so you need to be able to hide and let things cool down if you have to.
Free loadouts are your friend until you get comfy with the game.
Accept all the quests from the traders, and track any resources you might need.
Focus on your work benches, you'll need to install them and then upgrade each one to level 3 to be able to craft all the blueprints you have access to. Track resources for those too.
The chicken can be upgraded too, but that'd be quite low on the list of priorities as he never maxes out anyway.
When you hit level 20, the game opens up a lot more. More traders / expedition and other stuff. When it does, familiarise yourself with your projects and work towards them. Even if you don't use them when the time comes, you'll still have the option to if you wish. Don't be a shmuck like me and ignore it until the last minute and then have to grind out a billion resources for the expedition.
Don't get attached to loot. You need to lose the "gear fear" mentality very quickly, once you do the game changes completely.

Most importantly:

The game has an aggresion based matchmaking system. Whilst PVP is always on, if you play passively, you'll get matched with other passive players. Play aggressively and you'll find out very quickly that you are in fact not the biggest fish in the pond :D

Played 6 games which all ended very quickly! lol

Out of the 6 games played 3 where killed by other players with no attempt at comms.

Just using free loadouts atm but seems to be a lot of stuff to collect, unsure what to keep or what to sell.

primary in the free loadout seems terrible but will be sticking with this as I am dying far too quickly to take anything else.

It depends which gun you get placed with in free. The Ferro is about the only one good at taking down the smaller flying arc like Wasps or Hornets and is good for longer range engagements with cover. Rattler is your standard assault rifle, mid range, can be good at jumping out bursting down and heading back to cover again. Not an amazing gun though. Kettle is decent ish, semi auto so you have to click to shoot each bullet, again mid range. Stitcher is great up close but the first level one empties its clip quite quickly without any attachments.

On that point "first level one", each gun can be upgraded from I to IV (1 to 4) using components. You probably don't need to worry about this just yet, but worth mentioning. Of the starting guns, the only ones I tend to use now at around level 45 ish are when I want to take in some cheap guns but still stand half a chance, and they're the Ferro IV (for longer range engagements against players and ARC) and Stitcher IV (for drilling people close up).

Had a brain fart moment earlier. Managed to avoid getting into any pvp encounters for a good while now, proactive on mic etc.

Today I was in the middle of spaceport and was undercover as wasps/hornets flew over. A lone hornet just going over where I wanted to run to, so I took a couple of shots at it with my anvil, yep got completely owned by it, 3 directs hits from it then an opportunistic player finished me and the hornet off. Thankfully no decent loot on me so he'd be miffed.

I left myself exposed in a high loot area (plenty of scope to be shot in the back), I was having a boss-eyed moment with my aiming. I really didn't need to engage that bloody hornet. Must've looked like a right bloody amateur! All on me. /facepalm

There are a few free guns, as Seb says, the Ferro is decent, so is the Rattler. The Stitcher is decent for arc, and hilariously dangerous on other raiders. Keep in mind that the game is still figuring you out, if you play it cool and don't engage with other players you'll soon find yourself in nice calm lobbies. That's where I am now, it's nice and chill, and as a result I run a fairly decent loadout and a few defibs so I can save other players.

Like I did a couple of matches ago, heard someone get ganked by that unmistakeable rocketeer sound, followed by the flare, so ran over to res him. I then wolfpack'd the rocketeer which only took about half damage, so I had to take it out with an Anvil. Despite telling this dude to stay in cover whilst I deal with it, he still ran out and got comprehensively dismantled by a very angry and on-fire rocketeer. Still, I got all his stuff so it wasn't all bad :p

I've also killed a few rats, the lobby will be like all chill "hey man wanna smoke a spliff and loot stuff" and I'm like "dude I don't do drugs anymore but I've got a beer, let's hang" and before you know it there's like 6 of us, and then some dunce decides to walk in and do the suicide-by-cop routine so one of us ends up killing him and we all laugh at him for being so thick and then we all loot his stuff, smoke spliffs, drink beer and carry on our merry ways.

Good times.

@Hades needs this game.
