I was all set to buy Asrock as on paper their boards looked great in terms of price and features, only went ASUS as a spur of the moment when a really good offer popped up around BF last year.

I also don't buy Asrock. Just not a brand that appeals to me. MSI, Gigabyte or Asus I'd buy and have bought in the past.

Primary reason I bought MSI this time round was because when I was on AM4 with a Gigabyte motherboard I noticed that MSI where always first to push new bioses.

Joined the club this week with the rig in my sig.

I've already read most of this thread and read some have had similar issues but not seen any answers.

I have updated to the latest bios, set the ram to EXPO profile 1. Set the PBO curve to -30 with a 200mhz boost.

I'm stress testing with AIDA64, and I'm stable for 30mins but my core clock is dropping from 5425mhz and fluctuating between 5080~5325.

My temps under my Lian Li 360 Galahad max at 70deg.

I could undertstand if it wasn't stable.

You are probably capped at the 120w limit, if you increase the power limit settings and set to motherboard or manually enter values then you should have more headroom.

Thanks.

Can you be more specific with what needs to be done?

Any guides or YT videos on this?

There should be a setting that becomes available when you enable PBO that says PBO limits, if you set it to motherboard then that should increase the power limits, there is also a setting called scaler that will increase voltage above spec to try and maintain higher boost clocks, 1-10 though I probably wouldn’t go to high on that, I just leave mine on 1.

It's already set this way. Still getting a drop.

I’ll try the same test tomorrow to see how mine runs. 30 min Aida64 stress test is all you’re doing right? And monitoring core clock in HWInfo?

My 9800X3D is cooled by a 280mm AIO (4 fans in push / pull) so won’t be far off cooling capacity of a 360.

Might just be at the limit then, if I recall AIDA uses AVX 512 so it’s one of the heavier tests, what clocks are you seeing in cinebench?
Funnily enough, I can't get Cinebench R23 to run. I've been trying to figure out if somethings stopping it or a conflict with another app but not sussed it yet.

Will Cinebench R24 run? I've not bothered with R23 for the past few years as a benchmarking tool unless I'm trying to compare to an older run I'd done before for a comparison point.

I bought an asrock board years and years ago and to me they where a budget brand.(mb was stable and never fauled) In the last decade or so I couldn't believe how they've moved up, but i can't shake the budget brand for motherboards out of my head so wouldn't consider one. I'm probably being stupid, but old habits die hard. I also fo for the same brands as you. I currently sport a msi 670e board in my build

AsRock seemed to be the best value brand for the 870 boards when they came out. They certainly caught my eye. Although i'm not sure they have aged particularly well given the Zen 5 dying CPUs fiasco.

I'm just hoping my MSI Tomahawk X670E is fully compatible with Zen 6 and that there is no small BIOS size issues again.

Haven't you heard about the problem with that board?
