Yeah for me it could be anyone of hundreds of customers any time from Plymouth to Inverness (or NI). Our current bean counter is also super tight on expenses rules. It put him in a cold sweat that his predecessor used to claim the VAT back on all my fuel and didn't try to calculate what percentage of each tank was for private use (and therefore paid back to the company by me) and subtract that from the claim! Even when I was public sector they didn't worry about that.If driving for work, if you are doing random routes then its trickier, but if you are seeing the same clients (seems wrong to say that now that ive read the rent boy comment) then its way easier. For every 300mile plus trip i do, i have 2 or 3 fast chargers earmarked. ive been fortunate, tesla networks have appeared on all my routes!
As such I'll be on HMRC rate whatever the scenario so if that is a 1200 mile round trip to Inverness via a few other customers that is going to sting a bit. Admittedly that is a once a year scenario normally but trips often total 700+ miles. At least the HMRC rate is a bit better now I guess.
Ultimately the tax man and senior management will steer my decision either way as they have for the last 12 years!
