eBay gone to pot?

I was not happy about the enforced move to simple delivery but I much prefer it now. Cheaper postage and no need to write out address labels which is a massive plus due to my apalling handwriting.

I'd rather buy from Aliexpress these days. Very little hassle with buying new or used items.

I seem to get more trouble then not with Ebay sellers. Best offers being ignored or not accepted when within a few quid. Delays in posting and sub-standard parts.

Been looking at some headphones from Ali. Is there issues with customs/extra charges etc.

Has anyone exceeded the declared parcel weight? According to eBay you'll be charged the difference plus an admin fee.

I do it from time to time with UPS when shipping cases, will select the highest postage then 3 week later get a bill for a 'oversize' charge that usually is £4.99. Granted I haven't shipped a case since they swapped to the new delivery system.

Honestly anything I need amazon usually has it cheaper anyway...

I wanted a 19mm socket so I can remove the lock shield caps on my rads and adjust the flow into the radiator.

even with like 2.99 delivery on amazon it was 2-3 pound cheaper...

those are the kinda things that your supposed to buy on ebay for cheap as chips..., you know things that fit through the letterbox

Latest frustration with simple delivery is eBay forcing 'combined' delivery on sellers if a buyer purchases more than one item from you. I'm selling a few gaming mice, a few monitors and some mousepads on eBay. Someone bought both mousepads and a mouse from me - and eBay has put it as a 'combined' delivery.

The mousepads are flat pads, they cannot be rolled otherwise it breaks the pad - so the pads have a dedicated square, flat box to support all of them. The mouse, obviously, is in a box. The two items quite literally cannot be combined into one parcel and eBay support weren't super happy about my suggestion to just parcel tape the mouse to the front of the mousepad box 'in case it fell off'. But they weren't willing to split the combined shipment up either!

The whole 'simple shipping' thing has just caused me so many more unnecessary headaches, I wish they'd just made it optional. Let people who want that side handled for them have that available - but I like to be able to control my shipping, the type of courier, the service, splitting parcels where necessary etc.

seems like you need to change your packaging.

agreed Surely... put them all into one large box?

@t2na
Probably easier if I show both of you the image. These aren't small mousepads, they have to be kept completely flat so have a box specifically for their size.

Smaller parcel / pack is the mouse, larger one obviously the two pads in individual square boxes, then both in the larger sealed box.

My frustration is that eBay are forcing 'combined delivery' vs. allowing me to willingly spend extra money to ship them both separately. These are really peculiar shaped parcels, I had a good hunt about for a large box that could fit something as wide as the mouse pad but not so tall as to have everything rattling around (or shoving a ton of bubble wrap to fill the empty space).

That's really it. I don't think you should be forced to do a combined delivery when the seller (i.e. me in this instance) is offering free shipping. I'm happy to ship two parcels separately to the same person at my expense.

you know you can get really small printers just for printing addresses? I think they all use thermal paper

Stop using ebay then. Their service their rules. Why don't you play by their rules and send it in a bigger box. Or in a bag. Or you know 'change the packaging' ?

use a packet, jiffy bag, envelope, hmmm this is definitely a problem no one in history has solved so far. Maybe you can crack it ? Or keep whining on the internet ?

What on earth is wrong with you? I feel like you're looking for a fight where there isn't one - or you're the person who decided to make combined shipping mandatory at eBay so want to justify your clown decision...

I'm expressing my frustration that eBay have changed something that historically was never a problem - and is now causing me a point of frustration in a thread titled 'eBay gone to pot'. Imagine people on the internet talking about things, what a world.

I like eBay, at no point have I ever said I don't like selling on eBay. My frustration is them enforcing private sellers, not businesses, to combine items when it logically doesn't make sense to do so and I'm happy to pay the difference to keep them split.

Why are you being a big weird mango about it all?
