NVIDIA RTX 50 SERIES - Technical/General Discussion

A queue of 7000 that likely appears literally seconds after people get the alerts via discord. Its a total crapshoot and more thsn luck if you happen to get one.

Tried to grab one and impossible, this has kind of proven my point regarding the FE, they are basically hens teeth, plans have changed now anyway, I had a bit of luck if you can call it that(?) I cancelled the RTX580 Noctua Edition, tried to grab an FE and failed, then got moody and said sod it I'm getting a 5090 damn the cost , went to overclockers and for some odd reason a Zotac RTX 5090 that I had in my basket for a few weeks had kept it's price @ £2399 when I originally put it in there, todays price is £2700! and it's just been dispatched! so a fair bit more than an FE but I guess in todays market not to bad, I kind of saw it as a sign as my last chance to grab one before the prices continue to rise.
nice, glad it worked out for you. Its honestly worth the extra you pay, that Noctua 5080 is just not worth the price asus is asking for. Now, anybody have 5090 in their basket for cheaper they can forward to me

I just noticed all the 5090 have now between £500-£700 price increase over the last month, crazy. I hope nobody is buying at this stupid prices.

Why not just sign up for the discord servers that alert you when they're in stock?
can you link the discord that works for uk market? most discord servers I know are us market oriented or just stop reporting.

wait, not sure if that breaks forum rules, best not link.

I've done something rather stupid and bought an Asus RTX 5080 Noctua OC Edition, just hope it squeezes in my case! I deliberated over getting a 5090 for a while but I think that ship has sailed now with my prices increases, it's not a cheap card @ £1499 but it's only £300 over the Asus Prime 5080 that I was going to get and the Noctua cards seem to hold their value well so hoping to sell off when a 6080 version comes out in the future.
'only £300 over the Asus Prime'. Lmao. Now I know who buys these overpriced cards that are within spitting distance of the next tier up.

Unbelievable, Jeff.

I went a different direction if you read on but truth be told if you value absolute silence it might be worth it for some, as far as I'm aware it's one of the quietest 5080s that exists, even when compared to water cooled cards and that comes at a premium.

Anyway with a 5090 coming now my dreams of absolute silence will be hampered slightly! First thing I intend to do is under-volt it.

I was being slightly facetious (sorry). I understand why you may value silence very highly. As someone who daily drives a silent Apple Silicon Mac, I could not sit next to my gaming PC all day with the AIO CPU fans whirring away, even at idle.

Let us know how you get on with the 5090! Undervolting is definitely a must, and also helps with coil whine (although I pray you don't have any).

Managed to snag a 5090fe during yesterday's drop. I'm a bit confused as to whether I have all the cables I need to connect it to my PSU. This is the PSU I have:

Nvidia says to connect 4x individual 8 pin PCI connectors:

I don't think the PSU is supplied with 4 individuals, I think it's 1 8 pin and 2 that are split 2x 8pin. Is it not recommended to use the 2x6 connector supplied with the PSU?

Thanks!

I won’t be able to sell mine, it’s ugly as hell lol. So annoyed I couldn’t get a replacement Suprim.
Not that I need to, don’t play anything.

Edit. Got a Zotac ArcticStorm.

I think the founders look nice. But I tend to prefer plain looking things. No RGB, solid side panel, dark board, cables etc

I know what you mean about not playing anything. I’m struggling to find anything to keep my attention.

Last game I bought was Borderlands 4 and gave up after about 10 hours.
