Outlook/ hotmail issues

I’m surprised that Hotmail hasn’t be switched off yet to be honest.

I tell everyone I meet that whinges about Hotmail to move to iCloud or Gmail ASAP.

Is outlook.com the same thing, not had any issues with it, I think I had hotmail address at some point but got switched over to outlook.com address.

How many paid microsoft software, windows logins, cloud storage and xbox accounts would that harm?

Microsoft must be making a fortune through that, all linked to legacy hotmail accounts.

They would be mad to shut them down, though what they could do is insist people pay a nominal fee or subscribe to a product.

Want security then self host, Google has a terrible reputation of quickly sunsetting products.

I've not had any issues.

I do find however Hotmail accounts just get absolutely bombarded with junk and phishing scams.

My Gmail account seems to hardly get any.

I probably should bin it off but I've had my Hotmail account hmmmm 28 years?

Could just be the age of the account. 28 years is a long time for your email to be out there, breached etc.

Think mine will be roughly 20/25 years and I do get a fair load of crap in that junk folder

Same - I don't use it for a lot of stuff these days but mine is around 28-29 years old... was just trying to find out how old and came across this which I think was the first email I ever received - from a friend who was extremely high at the time:

Hey you faliure has reached the whole world. Soon they will be mocking your acheivments in thw white hous and other glamourous places an so forth. Soon though your time will come and you god like thronn e which you seemed to have taken in visula basic and QB will be taken by the GOD of football. Yes thats correct - me!!!

WHO HA HA HA HA HA!! WHO HA HA HA HAHA HA HAH !

(Don't do drugs kids)

Had a nightmare with this for a week but just been able to get in. Was sending me login codes to my Gmail but when I tried to use my phone it wouldn't send a code. I've added an additional email account so hopefully it accepts 2 out of 3 next time.

Fine here but password is stored I don't do manual logins.

Yes and no. Hotmail.com redirects to outlook.live.com/mail
My email address is still an old @hotmail.com one but it uses the outlook site

Yeah same we've all got legacy hotmail accounts father, sister and my mother when she was capable. It also doubles as a microsoft account for logging into windows etc.

I had this for months too a while back. It still does it by prompting signin key but you just pick I want to sign in using another way and then pick password.

Also anyone noticed another strange bug. It says you have reached your sending limit for today. ( If you want to send ) You can upgrade to Hotmail premium.

The problem is I haven't sent any messages today and needed one the rare occasion to do so. I did report a lot of spam which was the only thing I could think of that consistutes as a mail sent??

More Microsoft tinkers with it the worse it gets.

I stupidly have a great Hotmail account that I bagged when the Hotmail.co.uk domain was released.

It's literally my first name@hotmail

I was so smug.

Turns out it's a nightmare as I get spammed to hell and people use it for their pizza delivery and various things.

Yeah that is odd?

Saying that, a quick Google says if you're not a subscriber to 365 (The office suite) then

Limits may vary based on usage history and will be lower for non-subscribers.

It could well be that. I can sort of see the logic, old account, doesn't really send anything. If it were to be hacked, then the sending limit would stop the spam abuse.

But still...
