The **Now Eating** Thread

Various things made from sourdough starter, regular weekly bakes.
Have managed to keep a starter alive for the past few months and trialing different methods / recipes.
Loaves, baguettes, pancakes mostly. Some better than others but other than the time delay between steps, it's been pretty simple, with good results overall.

Venison Koftas. (actually Highland Game 300g Venison Kofta)

They're spicer than I was expecting for a supermarket buy (and I like spicy). Good solid taste, good herb level and a quite a kick warming chilli heat. They'd do well once they're in a wrap with mayo etc.

Would certainly buy again.

So....:D

Someone told me that @Gilbert89 likes Pathia and has been seen eating Shepherds pie on occasion, which got a bit of my brain thinking......

It has probably been done before, but I present Indian Shepherds pie that is made up of Northern Indian mash potato, Lamb mince cooked in a Pathia sauce and finished under the grill with Paneer slices.

It has a good heat from both the mash and Pathia.

Well, that wasn’t my proudest…

Looks really good, I imagine it was a taste sensation! Would you have it again?

I once did an Indian Spiced Cottage pie and it was wonderful :)

Suddenly I am in the mood for a cheeky “sooOoonnn”

Cannot wait to make again

I asked for the mash to be more Northern Indian with heat and flavours and he did not disappoint at all, even though he had never made it before.
Taste and texture wise it really works for me, with the heat and heaviness of the mash combining really well with the lamb mince in Pathia sauce. The Paneer wasn't the best idea, although it doesn't spoil the dish, but I feel its texture wasn't quite right.
Might seek out a more Cheddar type of Indian cheese for mk2 and might have a go at my own mash, but cream it enough for a piping bag.

I've made enough for around 6 portions and will be freezing some for later.

I'm already planning my next dish, which will be...........

Did consider making a cottage Indian pie, but local will not cook cow. Does sound lovely though.

Once you have got the recipe fully dialed in. I can see this being sold in all the large supermarkets
