eBay gone to pot?

Just bubblewrap them all together so the mouse can’t detach from the flat boxes and stick the three wrapped packages into a black bag and tape it all. You have one package.

Or just use a large box.

Took a punt on a probably fake item.
I added the ebay authenticity guaranteed to my purchase. And yes.. The buyer cancelled!

Any way to report items as fake? I guess not.

Other people will probably get scammed. As they've put the price lower than the automatic authentication value.

Pretty good service by ebay though to offer it for a fee.

Yeah I had that with some Nike trainers that I bought. They went to eBay first and then came later to me in a blue bag with an "authentic" tag.

Pretty good by me.

Everytime I sell something on there I question my own sanity. Years ago it used to be quite good, I've done over 500 deals on there buying and selling and barely had any issues until relatively recently. Just today had a buyer cancel an order. Auction for PS5 game he won as he bid on it several times, yet he has cancelled it as he "purchased in error". Since when has this been a thing? Always though a bid was a contract?

If I sell anything I always have concerns that something will go wrong with the sale.

The way the buyer is protected has caused me great difficulty in the past. I sold some office clearance Cisco phones with SIP firmware, it stated in the listing that it would require TFTP for the config files "So only buy if you know what you are doing" I had some guy buy them, clearly didn't know what he was doing, even had me send him an example TFTP config file and I gave him my mobile number and walked him through what to do, he still couldn't figure it out, he returned the phones and gave me negative feedback, it took a lot of complaining to eBay to get the negative feedback removed. I messaged him, and eBay, pointing out that someone else had bought them and obviously got them working because I'd been left positive feedback, stating that it was a pleasure to do business with and that the new seller had gone on to buy a load more.

Another instance I sold a DJI Phantom drone, a full kit, clearly pictured in the listing as it being in excellent condition, after he received it he obviously crashed a drone, and sent me pictures of a damaged drone, also refusing to send it back, but sending me death threats along with the negative feedback, eBay wouldn't help with that, I told him to go and run on a motorway and eBay saw me as being in the wrong because he claimed he had mental health issues and it had effected him. I asked him to send it back, he refused, eBay refunded him, I continued to complain to eBay and eventually they removed the negative feedback and gave me the money back - I got a message from him after that saying "Seriously, they gave you the money" he obviously thought he could get a £500 drone for free and. Looking at this guys feedback left for others it was obvious he either liked finding fault with everything, or used eBay as a place to replace his damaged items for free. I looked at his account a year later and I think he had been banned, so he'd obviously. The fact that he was refusing to send it back pretty much guaranteed that he was using it as a replacement, the serial number was clearly pictured in the listing.

I think that eBay have started to support the sellers after a lot of bad press, I still don't sell much on there because it generally isn't worth it. I think one of the biggest problems they have is they have the monopoly, when it was Yahoo Auctions and eBay they had to look after buyers and sellers.

On a sidenote, I did recently receive a message asking for my NI number because I had sold a lot of electronics on there. It was all old things I'd found in the loft when I was boarding it, but it was a bit of a surprise. It did state on the message that a lot of things are nothing, but sometimes business sellers act as private sellers to get around paying tax. Nothing came of it I complied and gave them my NI details. I do wonder with GDPR if I could get them removed, only just thought about that, but it is something I might look into.

Games sales are notorious always have been they're bought by kiddies or teens who change their minds at the drop of a hat they decide they don't want it or found it cheaper elsewhere. I gave up and just took them them to a shop its less hassle.

Nope... I once bought a JBL bluetooth speaker from ebay as New retail price and when I received it I could tell it was a counterfeit right away and JBL themselves confirmed it to be a fake. I eventually got my money back. The seller didn't want the speaker back so I ended up giving it to the charity shop because it didn't really work well and sounded really cheap. I then bought one from the official JBL site which I should have just done in the first place. I reported the seller to ebay but doesn't look like ebay did anything about it as the seller is still trading selling the same counterfeit rubbish at retail prices.

Sadly a lot of people like this - I handle retail returns sometimes as part of my job and it amazes me more businesses don't go out of business from it the sheer amount of stuff where people have obviously put their old broken item into the new packaging and tried to return it for a refund and while I'm not tied into the final outcome side of it - from what I hear only a fraction get prosecuted, etc. probably because you then get people playing dumb and saying stuff like "oh my brother packed it up and must have put the wrong one in".

I do like simple delivery now they have ironed out some of the issues. I like that ebay handles any customer questions about delivery automatically. Like a buyer asking if its been despatched yet, when they could just check the tracking. Also nice that the buyer can't neg you for RM being late if you adhere to the despatch time.

My main gripe with ebay is how long it takes to get views on buy it now items, even after using their promotion feature.

If you don't like ebay simpler postage thing you can select other service and then use your own choice it seems. Neat.

I had an issue recently due to my package being too big.

Aside from that I also had a something too big to post! :D.

You see, that's the exact point where I'd cease all contact and get the police involved. Ruin the ***** life.
I was tempted, but I wanted my money back first!

It was bad that eBay ignored the threats, that were sent in ab eBay message to me, but when I told him to go and run on the motorway he claimed that he had mental health issues in the past and didn't want to go back to that dark period of his life I got a warning from eBay about it. Once the case was concluded I did send a message to eBay support to highlight that a death threat is far more likely to damage a persons mental health, I didn't get a response from eBay.

I looked at the feedback he'd left for others and it seemed like it was every other purchase he left negative feedback, presumably out to get whatever he could without having to pay. I looked at the user account a couple of years ago and it wasn't active, I wonder if he'd been identified as a scammer and banned, created a new account after being banned, or just decided he wanted to go and scam on some other site.

As before though, it's unfortunate, but eBay has no real competition, since many years ago Yahoo Auctions were the big rival now there's only Vinted, and that's mostly £1-2 "I am not a shop" sales!

Ebay is pathetic. I bought a used compressor sometime last year and try as we might neither me as buyer nor the seller could find any way of exchanging phone numbers or emails to actually get in touch to arrange collection. Any attempt to add them to message was blocked. Eventually I found he had also advertised the item on gumtree so went through that platform instead.

It's the last place I ever use to search for items now.
