Roll back OS update on ipad?

When I erased and restored my friends iPad via Apple config 2, it went back to os 18… I hadn’t noticed till it was in a mdm server and I was doing smart groups and couldn’t see it.

I remember a while back reading about shorter package signing life.. but I don’t tend to deal with the day to day restore and setup of machines.. so I wasn’t paying much attention.

Guess that’s one way to force people to be compliant… I much prefer the old days of a major os every two years for macOS and iOS just drop when it was required.

Off topic but why are you managing your friends iPad with an MDM?

Meraki let you manage device settings and restrictions and I think you might have been able to distribute files but from memory there was no option to browse users files...

Using them to manage devices in Education / Work places or even if you have children but to manage a "friends" iPad seems a little odd.

I was doing a mdm certification and using it as a test device... and of course.. NUDES!!!

But I do mange serval family devices from my own personal mdm, it's no difference from running a domain server from home. It's good for pratice and makes my life giving them support easiler.

Also Meraki sucks... switch MDMs.

It was free and did everything that was required to manage school devices, set restrictions, configure the wifi, deploy apps, monitor geo location, remote wipe etc...

So it was all that was needed at the time and I never had any problems managing iOS devices with it, the Android options were limited but we used the KIOSK mode to good effect.
