Mini/micro LED QHD monitors

I'm really liking this monitor so far. The picture is excellent, I've not noticed any ghosting in general use or gaming so far. Maybe I'm immune to it or my eyes are aging.

I think I've given myself eyestrain and a crooked neck as I have had it setup next to my main monitor and sitting at an odd angle for a few days. I'll get it mounted in the coming days as it's pretty much a keeper.

Even though it's rated at HDR 1000, peak brightness can hit just shy if 1,500. I flash banged myself fiddling with settings last night.

As an added bonus, I just checked the '12 month warranty' on MSIs website which shows as warranty available to January 2029.

This was a concern too. I need more time with it for my daily usage.

Is your headaches caused by a VA panel or more of the PWM setup? I know a few folk that don't get on with OLEDs due to the same.

This MSI is DC dimming for that reason. I didn't want to tempt fate with a PWM setup.
OLED takes a couple of weeks for the headaches to end. Now you would have to pry it from my cold dead hands lol.

I've got OLED TV's which at first gave me a tired feeling in my eyes.
This I think was due to sitting with a crooked neck. It has passed now and been using it too full days without issue. Still not got round to calibrating it with the calibrite yet but will do soon.

I've just been playing some Cyberpunk on my lunch game, HDR is great! Honestly, For the price of the monitor, It is a great upgrade. As much as I want an OLED for work and gaming, I would have the issues of text fringing at 1440P and risk of burn in with the hours I spend with static pages etc.

Yeah this is why I can't go Oled, at least 8 hours a day on vscode or another ide.

Cyberpunks HDR sort of sucks, you need RenoDX for it and ultra+ mod to sort out RT/PT

Yeah I'm seeing that compared to other games I've tried. I've also read of RenoDX being used to sort out HDR on other games. I'll have to check it out.

Pity, maybe one day we can go OLED. I'll take what I can for now until newer tech comes out.
This upgrade also means I can get rid of a cheap nasty 24" 75hz TN panel I use as a secondary monitor.
At least I now have two 27" 1440p monitors so I'm not faffing about with different resolutions.

Well, Update. Still loving the monitor but have also upgraded.
The MSI is now a second monitor and I've gone OLED. The trusty old IPS can retire now and go to a new home.

I've just set up my MSI MAG 274QPF X30MV this evening, after using a Dell 2407wfp since 2007 (now set up in portrait orientation alongside it). So far the most noticeable thing is the 300hz desktop refresh, after using 60hz since forever. It's nice having a smooth mouse pointer...

I'd been considering one of the 4k mini-LEDs, but having taken a look at some 27" 4k monitors - I decided there was no point in me having one unless I was going to start wearing glasses at my desk.

That will be some upgrade. Hope you enjoy your new monitor!

It is, though the Dell 2407wpf is one of the reasons why I went Mini-LED rather than OLED. After keeping that monitor 19 years (and it will continue as a 2ndary) I wanted another monitor with a chance of a good innings.

Edit: Also I had a quick fire up of the Witcher 3, which I previously had maxed out at 1920x1200 (albeit with frame generation) to see a game running on the new monitor. At 1440p my 4060ti 8GB clearly isn't up to maxed settings (DX12 RT Ultra+ etc):it's generally fairly smooth but will randomly pause every minute or so (I presume VRAM was being tipped over the edge compared to 1920x1200, as it's stark when it happens, rather than a generally lower framerate). A quick cheaty optimisation via the nVIDIA app and it produces something very visually close but buttery smooth (I didn't check exactly what framerate). It's making me glad I didn't go 4k though as I don't fancy paying for a GPU that will still handle the settings I was used to at that resolution. Having said that I'd just won an OEM 4070 12GB on the bay shortly before the monitor arrived, and I presume that will be a little more up to the 1440p task when ray tracing etc is involved.

One thing where this MSI is notably worse than the old Dell is viewing angle. I wasn't previously sure what panel was in my 2407wfp, as they came in both S-PVA and IPS variants. Having the old Dell sit next to the new VA panel mini-LED, and I can now tell it is very obviously IPS from the viewing angles. The viewing angle actually contributes to a sense of colour tone or brightness variance across the MSI panel where I'm looking at it directly, though this gets better the further away I sit. In contrast the old Dell looks more uniform to my eyes.

I would be very interested to see the MSI MAG 274QPF X30MV running alongside the MSI MAG 274UPDF E16M. The VA panel is fine for my usage but I do think an IPS might make more sense if you needed wider viewing angles than for solo desktop monitor use. And despite my initial impression from looking at various monitors in a shop, the 1440p pixels at 27" are quite evident to my eyes, even without my glasses (a considerable improvement from the 1920x1200 24" monitor I came from though).

Also, something I didn't mention is how glad I am about this series of MSI monitor being in plain black rather than RGB adorned LED gamer bling and bright colours. My desk is set up with my monitor's back to the room in my living room. I don't think my wife would have been especially happy to see the bright colours and light shows on offer with some of the competing monitors.

Hi all

I have a old Dell UltraSharp U2515H and thinking of a cheap upgrade for my gaming rig so I can use the Dell in home office, looking for a cheap IPS and everything seems like an upgrade over the Dell....I noticed the Samsung Odyssey G5 LS27FG530EUXXU at a good price of £179 and it has freesync premium...any reason not to get this or anything better you would recommend? I guess one with built in kvm might be nice but not a big deal...

Thanks

Edit, ignore me I created a new thread...
