On paper ignoring other practicality factors the i3 Touring has similar boot volume and space with the rear seats folded down as the A6 etron Avant.

EDIT: I can't be bothered to look into it but looks like the i3 Touring is based on the i5 platform and not an extension of the i3.

EDIT2: I'm guessing jpaul has just gone by the Google AI results though, more in-depth articles don't necessarily quite align but as above I can't be bothered to look into it in detail.

The answer is nobody knows how big the i3 touring boot will be yet except BMW insiders.

A6 e-tron is a bit crap though, feels incredibly low rent and has depreciated like a stone so he may have a point that it could be compared to a new i3 touring.

Had the Ioniq 6 a couple of days now.

Overall, a much nicer product than the VW. Drives better, plenty quick, much better suspensions and great physical controls for the driver.

A couple of things worth mentioning:

1. It’s not very efficient - I would typically see ~4.5+ mi/kWh with the ID 7 in this weather, sometimes 5+. With the Ioniq 6 I’m getting 3.7 - 4.2 if I REALLY nanny it.

2. It feels quite cheap in a few areas inc switches, infotainment, and general finish, compared to the VW.

The AWD version loses a lot of efficiency due to having two motors and the Ultimate has the larger wheels - we've had one of each AWD and RWD for a week or so and it was between 1-1.2mpkwh difference in this weather.

Enjoy it - I just did a 700 mile round trip holiday to the Lakes in our EQC, and with a roof box and a reasonably loaded car for the motorway portions averaged 2.7 mpkwh

Wow that’s a hell of a lot!

I looked into getting smaller wheels for better efficiency

At this rate I’m not sure if it would make it to Wales on a single charge in the winter

That’s not great but not terrible for a large brick

The Ioniq 6 is supposed to have the super low drag coefficient (albeit with smaller wheels and the digital wing mirrors)

Now it’s just ugly with no benefit

Haha it does look very low and designed for efficiency. Amazed how efficient the ID7 was though, I wouldn't have a hope in hell of getting that in our Born - must have a heavy right foot

Self parking cars aren't new though, what would be good is if they can do it 100% without hitting anything as a complaint with other self parking cars is sometimes they hit stuff just like a human they scratch your wheels and paintwork

Yeah though the feature is generally coded out in the UK and/or been disabled in updates post release i.e. the higher trim level Qashqais have had parking assist since 2014 but not usually enabled on UK cars.

Basically pick any that work with Octopus and that you like the look of. Other than WiFi/Celluar connectivity differences they're all much of a muchness.

Wifi/ethernet connection is preferable as you aren't then beholden to monthly SIM "connection" charges when the grace period finishes (aka ohme, where they'll charge £2/mth for the pleasure).

Also with the SIM connection, you are relying that the service in your area is acceptable.

I am using, and would recommend the hypervolt home 3 pro. This has both wifi and ethernet access, and the app is pretty decent. Also has octopus integration.

Still need to be able to connect the charger for charger settings and setup don't you? That's not as sarcastic as it sounds, I'm just assuming you would still need charger connectivity at some point.

based on size as rroff knew too - i5 touring is massive >5m compared to as e-tron which isn't much bigger than my a4 avant or 3 touring.

e: practicality is important to me - a cheap model3 bargain is no use to me if I can't get bicycles/stuff in it ... and fridges.
but I don't want to drive a boat either .... tammzy didn't elaborate how much he misses the hatch of his 4 series

I have a totally dumb charger from 2018 which woks fine with IOG as car handles it all

Thanks all, makes sense RE cell connection. Is it worth getting the install done via octopus or a local electrician? Or is there nothing in it and I'm overthinking it?
