EV general discussion

I don't think those things necessarily mean it isn't a quality product, particularly the gear selector - especially on the newer cars where it chooses for you. When I drive other cars, having to choose the gear now feels like an inconvenience! But yes, there are definitely cost cutting measures, but this applies to most cars nowadays. BMW for example have swiftly binned the iDrive controller and physical temperature controls. It doesn't make me think they are any less of a quality product though.

That auto gear selector thing was damn impressive tbh. I can already see myself turning in to one of those dribbling retards in five years time who completely fails at operating a "regular" car.

so what happens when you want to show someone some brake lights - I'm coming towards a level crossing or a corner and someone is right behind,
I tap the brake pedal to show my intention, before I start real braking/engine braking, all part of that legacy fun of driving.

need to use the friction brakes too, time to time, to avoid the corrosion&replacement - what is the latest on the seal drivers ombuddsmans appeal.
Above 0.07 G decel from memory the brake lights come on. Regardless of brake pedal input.

One-pedal braking using regen still shows brake lights on all modern EV's (afaik).

The problem with this response is that you've assumed he's asking something even remotely normal but he's not asking whether the brake lights come on when you're actually slowing down, he's asking whether you can make the brake lights come on without slowing down so you can warn someone you're about to slow down.

I must be honest, I really like the look of those. They've also absolutely exploded on to the scene, can't go a few miles without seeing one. Hopefully they help Stellantis crawl out their grave a bit.

The hire car was left switched on with parking brake not applied more than once....
reminds me of explaining to my mum how a tesla works

what do you mean you don't have a key? how do you get into the car and start the engine? uhh, my phone is the key and runs via bluetooth
that's really easy to steal then? there's a pin you need to enter before you can drive the car
what about putting it into park? the gear is in park as soon as you get out of the car
what about locking the car? oh, it locks itself when i walk away

all i saw was:

I have a new job starting next year driving a minibus of kids to school and back..... (assuming I pass the driving test).
I won't lie. having not driven a manual in 3.5 years (and only driven a minibus once 20 years ago) I am a bit nervous.

at least the test is in my car.
