EV general discussion

Question for Tesla owners - if I've got no signal, is the only way to get in the car using the card thingy? Can I add a card to my Android wallet?

Also, if my phone is dead I'm assuming that's it, no entry without card?

Anyone purchased a Model Y on current PCH or PCP from Tesla directly? Seems like a pretty good rate for the premium awd?

Haha I'm too much of a wuss not to carry the card. I mean it's only the size of a credit card so it's no biggies and fits in my wallet

yeah - I barely take my wallet anywhere these days.... Hence why no keycard

All on my phone (Amex, Tesla key, Bank card etc etc) - I know there is always a tiny risk of loosing phone but it doesn't bother me....

Hypervolt charger installed today. It's..... very glowy.
Pity it doesn't have a button on it to release the charger like the Tesla one does. No bother to just tap my watch to do it though. Seems to work fine. Hard to get excited about it though.

can turn off the lights in the app

pull the rear passenger door handle for 3s and the latch will disengage (tesla cars only)

it's an EV charger, i'd be surprised if anyone finds it exciting

Well, I'm totally failing to add the car and charger to my Octopus account. It asks for permissions, adds a virtual key, then says "Sorry, couldn't connect to the car". Tried removing it from Tesla 3rd party apps. No idea how to proceed because it should just work apparently. Clearly not.

Tried adding car on its own and selecting "home 3pin", still fails. Can't add charger without a car as far as I can see.

Charger set to immediately charge on connection? Not in smart mode?

No charge restrictions or time preference on the car’s own settings either?

Do it when you are sat in the car, you then swipe your key card in the centre console to enable the virtual key.

Right. Have tried inside the car. Outside the car. With the charger connected. With the charger disconnected. With the car on WiFi. With the car on cellular. With my keycard in the centre area. Without etc. Always the same. Cannot connect to your car.
The virtual key gets added correctly and I can see Octopus as a 3rd party connector on the Tesla website. Still no good.

Not a great start.

Option 2, during the set up process, tell them you have a something like BYD Seal (or something with a similar or slightly bigger battery) which is an unsupported car and it will default to enrolling your charger instead.
