EV general discussion

I was looking at the BMW electric 3 series last night (doing the usual car builder). Since when did a heated steering wheel cost £300!
If it makes you feel and better, the heated wheel will be in the car regardless and you can unlock it post delivery via a subscription if you prefer.

It's in the electric car thread. M3 and MY are standard.
Are people in the EV thread not allowed to mention potentially moving from a BMW M3 to a Model 3 then? I mean it just causes confusion. One has lots of history and real heritage in the car world, the other is a washing machine with an iPad on wheels.

Jokes aside I had to read it and a few other posts a few times because I was confused thinking they were talking about a BMW M3. I can't be the only one.

Will also be good when people start talking about the electric BMW M3 and simply refer to an 'M3'. People will start referring a S3XY knob and the driver will be both flattered and offended at the same time.

Jokes aside these over abbreviated terms only really work intuitively on single marque forums.

I don't think I actually said that, but given you are in the EV thread, the term M3 is much more likely to mean Model 3 than BMW M3. There are many more M3's than BMW M3's that's for sure, not sure where your emotional investment comes from with regard to calling it anything other than a car though.

Horses for courses I guess, I'd rather have an M3 than a BMW M3, but I guess I a not 'a car guy' what ever that means lol.

Done 400 miles commuting this week and with a 4:50 start loved getting into a warm car! Started the week on 1 for regen braking and ended the week on max and mostly driving with one pedal. So much more comfortable on the 45+ mile commute. I did set out just driving like I did in my mini but soon found out I couldn't take the B roads with the same enthusiasm :D I didn't care about the KWPM as I will charge it to 80-100 every night I'm working anyway. 2 or 4kwpm isn't making any real difference.

All the bings and bongs got sorted quickly with just two long presses of two steering wheel buttons, which in all honesty was easier than remembering to turn off start stop.

My wife really likes the drive so mission accomplished, although she won't let me use it for our hiking getaway this week. She needs a bit longer to get over the topping up anxiety.
