No problem with my 20mb, just had 2.30mb/s whilst downloading from virgin gamefiles.

Its called "an overloaded UBR but virgin wont do anything as its not actually overloaded but in reality it is"

hmm i heard something about this virgin 20mb that its a load of bs.I head they only offer 20Mb for about the first 300mb of downloads(all in the small print apparently).Its just all a big con with a battle against sky.So really you will only get 20Mb for a few seconds and probs wont even notice it.

Im using it in nottingham and getting full download speed. Pings around 25 on css servers. They have introduced a fair usage thing between 4pm and 12. If you download over 3 Gig I think it drops your speed.

ran that test just this second ago.

its ALWAYS the same after 1pm and the only time i get 20mb is after 3am till 1pm which is pretty pathetic as i dont want to use net during those hours.

packet loss is also a major problem during these times.

virgin support have said my UBR is overloaded and have been saying the same thing for the last 18months and is supposed to be fixed on the 26th of this month but i heard all that before.

virgin is a joke of a company and will lose lots of customers due to this

Its true for me. When going over 3Gb after 4pm, my speed drops to 5Mb. It also stays that way until 12am/1am.

Because youve been speed capped,if you go over 3gb between 4pm - 12am this kicks in and ONLY lasts 4 hours not the 8 hours you have just said.

I know its because the speed cap. It still annoys me though. Im paying money for it and not always receiving it. I have had the 5Mb last 8 hours though and thats not through hammering the service... just virgin media being a pain

Just do your big downloads between midnight and 4Pm? That way the rest of us get a little bandwidth to play with in the evenings when we want to play BF2 / CS:S with reasonable pings

(I know that'll limit your download to about 120Gb per day - instead of the full 170Gb you feel entitled to - but I'm sure you'll survive

I can't even hit 10MB at 3pm, how am I going to get 20MB. Virgin Media are a joke. I am thinking of ditching them and moving to BE as long as I get at leat 10mb I will be happy.

my limit kicked in at 4:30pm the first time I have seen this occur, Im in bristol were it supposedly has not even been upgraded properly yet. Before 4:30pm my speed was hovering between 12 - 15mbps.

staying roughly @ 4.6mbps atm which I think is total crap to say the least, I want to download what i want at a decent speed not a crap 4mpbs.

a lot of my time spend on the net is between 6pm and 1am most days and to be limited like this is going to force me to look elsewere.

VM is going down the pan.

You sure some of you are not needing a modem change,i upgraded a month ago & was'nt getting the 20MB,had a look around the VM site(can't find the link now) It stated the my motorola sb4100(was 5 years old) needed changing to get full speed.

Filled in the form,then a couple of days later a new modem arrived ,plugged it in ,phoned the number on the letter & bingo !! 20MB coming down the line right away
