Right I dont wanna be that guy...but

When the PS3 can offer a console at £200/£250 i'm sure it will fly of the shelves and become No1 with ease, but by this time we will have xbox720 or whatever i reckon.

The ace up sonys sleeve is they have now developed their cell technology and adding more daughter processors with a faster speed shouldn't cost much at all so their PS4 could retail at a very low price. I just hop they don't leave it too late again.

I don't think they left it too late this time - granted it's not exactly selling like hot cakes, but it has a future, and that's the most important aspect.

To me the PS3 seemed no different to the 360, it has wireless and a different UI / online system, plus Blu-Ray.

It's hard to ignore that the PS3 is considerably quieter which i find a big plus when watching movies and playing games, i still even turn it on now and thing "Wow" this is quiet.Plus i would also argue that the sound that comes from the PS3 is better.

But i am enjoying my 360 for games at the moment. And since ive "fixed" mine with new thermal paste it doesn't crash no where near as much as it used too. That was a major turn off for me regarding the 360, it always crashing on me.

I think they were a little late to the party, but maybe the word "too" was poorly chosen. Time will tell.

PS3 does a lot of nice things, sadly though games atm is'nt one of them, I've had both systems and I really liked the PS3 but I felt that its was a multimedia system first, games system secoundry, yes no doudt things will change in the future but atm out of all the consoles the 360 supplys me with the most fun.

I underdstand the arguments for the PS3 and I'm not even saying if I agree/disagree with them.

But to me, they're all the finer points that should be considered in the event that the two consoles are evenly matched as far as their games library goes. They're not.

How many games are on the PS3? How many are on the 360? I'd rather have more choice than less choice.
For the third time, that's YOU, how many times do i have to reiterate? There may be more on 360 but to HIM and actually, to ME there are more on PS3 that I want to play. How can you not understand that?

Hi fella's i dont want to be the guy who starts a massive flame thread so can we keep it civil PLEASE. but i jus got my ps3 on friday....and i'm lost for words. I have spent extensive time on a uni flatemates 360 and all i can say is they are in separate leagues (in my opinion) The PS3 presents an all round multimedia system. Its just such a complete package...whereas if next september Microsoft turned around and said here is our new console i wouldnt be surprised. It just seems as though the 360 is a games console and the PS3 is a games console + 1. The price really does reflect what you get inrelation to the 360 and i've read many a thread which cites the lack of games on the console, but we are agreed it's a temporary situation. I'm blown away but all the individual features the console has and its inclusion of the Blu-ray player is just a further bonus. I want to make it clear im not bashing the 360 its a great console with some great games.......its just....well the PS3 is better (in my humble opinion)

**grabs fire extinguisher**

bet it sits on your shelf not being used though, mine did

first off I thought the ps3 was amazing, months went by and I watched new games being released on the 360 that I wanted to play. Occasionally a multi-platform title would come out, but they always seemed to have choppy frame rates. Sold it in the end and got a 360.

PS£ LOGIC

When would you buy a product based upon games that aren't available? You haven't played any of these so called amazing new games that are to be released.

It's like buying a new PC for Duke Nukem Forever or something like that.

Ah didn't think of sound, was only really thinking of the software and such.

360 noise is kinda annoying I guess, but mine is actually one of the 'pretty' quiet ones, disc drive isn't too bad at all.

DVDs were quiet on my 360 but I always play them on my PC now for multi-region hackz.

Seem to me the PS3 is a lot more polished and easier to use.

You turn it on, you play a game... it's hardly the most complex task to master. This goes for both consoles.

The PS3 isn't a better games console, it's a better multimedia centre. The 360 has more games, more exclusives, far more games rated over 8/10 by most major sites (including the votes given my actual gamers).

Lol, your sig.

Lol, your sig. Which breaks the rules btw.

Blueray playback isn't that quiet on the PS3 actually. About 5min into the film the fans speed up and it is noticeable.

Does depend on the size of your room though to be fair.

Yeah my PS3 was loud too as the fans sped up after about 5 minutes of XMB, the fans were even louder when gaming after 10 mins.

But mine was faulty I believe and the majority are pretty quiet machines.

It's obviously going to get hotter as you push the system..

The difference here is that the Ps3 is noticably quieter than the 360, even when playing a HD movie (IMHO anyway) :)

It is annoying when people hark on about "where are the games" yet they forget the 360 is a much more mature system, and in the first year of any console (including 360) there is always going to be a drought of good games.

simple reasons like this...high quality wifi, rechargable controlers, free online play and content. Look at the cost of the seperate components and you can see its a great price for what you get. I mean look at the price of a blu ray player! I also think that when you look at it overall you can kinda see microsoft have realised they are going to be trailer soon.

Reason being....i look at the this section of the forums and i see at least 3 threads a day regarding a dead/dying/disk killing 360. Also the fact that MS recognised they had built a poor quality machine....the extension of the warranty. And finally the Elite....a direct response to the PS3 and its expanding catalouge of games. HDMI & A decent size HD, two things the PS3 has as standard and that MS needed to try capture those looking to purhcase in the build up to christmas.

or am i wrong?

Sorry, and don't want to be that guy, but you're just starting to sound like another fan boy trying to justify his purchase.

The Menus on the 360 are anoying with all the tabs thats what i was geting at. Using the ps3 just feels better

Being annoying and being hard to use are different things. Personally I think the 360 dash is very well designed, and I've heard more people complain about the PS3 interface than the 360s. I've only used a PSP which I understand has a similar setup, and to be honest I thought it was terrible.

Considering the amount of stuff you can access, I don't see how much simpler it could be made.
