I think this is just another example of the british gov cracking the whip and the majority of the population conforms!
Seriously if the public don't agree on something then why don't they all just stand together and get their point across?!
I'm not a bad person, I'm not arrogent and I'm not just another idiot being awkward.
However I have never liked just conforming, bowing down to my superiors and just accepting it!
It goes against the fabric of who I am!
It depends, if the platform is busy then you should respect the people around you and not light up, if the platform is empty go ahead.
I get annoyed when people smoke at bus stops purely because i have to stand there to wait for my bus, not as if i can go halfway down the street to get away from it.
Its a place where people congregate possibly in high numbers and so is rightly covered by the ban.
The only time I've seen a blatant flouting of the law since it came in was at the Metallica gig at Wembley Stadium last month. Not much the staff could do about it when there were however-many thousand stood on the pitch. I've not actually seen anyone light up in a pub, though that could just be me being my usual unobservant self!
In nightclubs its worse now. It used to smell of smoke at first but then i would get used to it and it would be neutral. Now it just stinks of sweat and sick The toilets also smell nasty
Yeah, I won't smoke in a pub anymore; most have beer gardens where you can smoke anyways. As far as my smoking at the train station. I don't do it on mondays or friday's (fri-mon rota) but weekends, i'm usually the only person at my station, so it's not like anyone is there to complain. I'm not blatent about it, i sorta just camp down at the end of the platform and smoke. I'm not a rebel, really.
the only ones i've come across at work are foreign people on the whole, or people in the middle of a crowd at gigs, or hiding in the toilets
but i've barely worked since the ban came in

I might be terribly unobservant but I can't say I've noticed the smell of sweat or sick being any stronger since the ban here. But I'd prefer those smells to smoke anyway. The guys who sell aftershaves etc in the toilets seem to be doing a roaring trade so maybe it has had some sort of effect.

I keep on seeing the occasional post like this.
You really should consider a change of venue.
If the pub/club you are going to can't even keep the place smelling nice then you should move along.
As for the toilets - really, don't hang around inside them.
Well I can imagine it's rather hard for a nighclub to try and keep the place smelling good when you have a few 100 drunk and/or drugged up clubbers dancing around for hours on end.
As for pub's, they have no excuse lol.
People still smoke in my local, but only after about 11pm when the front door cloeses and it's locals only inside till what ever time in the morning. Before then, there's no smoking, but it doesn't seem to bother anyone really.
Thing that makes me laugh is the fact that the law has been introduced to prevent non smokers from being harmed by us smokers.
Yet everyday where I'm at college most of them come and join us at the smoking shelters due to boredom.
Also at night times when we've been drinking outside having a smoke we get joined by a load of non smokers who were getting lonely in the empty bar lol
Everytime I go to get a drink theres no queue and the barmaid has usually fallen asleep!
The bar I work in enforces the smoking ban, they have a firedoor that leads to the beergarden area where they have fitted new lighting and heater lamps for the smokers. They even wont let staff smoke after hours when cleaning so that the new carpet doesn't get ruined lol. The place hasen't begun to smell of sweat at all really, mostly because everytime you go to the toilets toilet guy is there trying to spray you with some afterhave and wanting £1 off you.
