Hi, after trying to upgrade this old 939 system ive decided to bite the bullet and go intel and c2d. This will be my first intel system
.
After hours of looking around ive put together this. Im hoping I can run this on my current Enermax 495W ATX2 psu (EG495AX-VE) if possible. I wont be overclocking. I also wonder will my current SATA hardrive run in this fine? is sata backwards compatible (Serial ATA-150, 7,200 RPM, 16MB - MPN: 6L250S0).
Intel Core 2 Duo E6550 "LGA775 Conroe" 2.33GHz (1333FSB) - £115.14
Asus P5K Intel P35 (Socket 775) PCI-Express DDR2 Motherboard - £88.11
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 - £64.61
768Mb 8800GTX PCI-E (x16) - £293
Akasa PCI Express 6-Pin to 4-Pin Power Adaptor - £3.51 (my psu only has 1)
I wasnt sure on the major difference between a E6550 and an E6600 apart from the £40 difference the different FSB and a tiny bit more performance.
Anyone have any other recommendations and will all this work together ok?
any help appreciated, thanks
Mike
