Mercedes Benz and AMG Owners

I don't know how many Mercedes and AMG owners there are on these forums but I can't see an owners/info thread kicking about so thought I'd start one - the BMW, RenaultSport and others have been quite useful for owners and people looking to buy.

I've been lurking on a couple of MB forums before I bought mine for research but found there wasn't much talk of them on here besides the odd thread.

Mine is a MY2006 CLS55 AMG. First MB I've owned myself, although my dad had a C320 CDI a few years back which I used to drive fairly regularly.

Interested to see what else is on here!

Also, anyone able to offer any suggestions as to what the best route for servicing would be for me? A decent specialist or main dealer? I expect usual pros and cons apply but any recommendations would be good.

I've been thinking about a C63 too, but not sure anyone on here owns one so nobody to ask the good / bad points on getting one.

I've been a passenger in a C63 - lovely car and obviously "what an engine", although I was a bit underwhelmed at the interior quality.

Lovely car, though - total rocket ship.

Loving that CLS. I would love an E63. I drove one at Brooklands and it was incredible.

6.3L V8/451 bhp model? The superchargers seem to be short lived - everything seems to be NA now.

Was that on an experience day sort of thing?

Im quite into my old mercs, ive had a few 190e's a w124 and a w210.

I still own one of my 190's which i grew a bit attached to. I have since been working on swapping the 1.8 for a 3.0 out of w124. I also have a dogleg cosworth gearbox and i am setting up a lockable diff using the hydraulic diff that they have. The plan is to drift it but im a long way off that still. It has sat covered in dirt for most of the winter and im starting to get motivated to finish the project off this summer.

My dad owns something special, its a 1964 300se. Its the 6 cylinder which i think is a 2.8. He bought it in Germany quite a few years ago. Its pretty much showroom condition. It has been up for sale for a while as he now lives in brazil.

Yup and as far as experience days go it was superb. You really get to "drive" them, although their track is pretty small so you can't really hit autobahn speeds. Still masses of fun though. The skid pan was hilarious as well. I had quite an audience for that!

It was the 6.2L V8 yes, but they have ~520bhp AFAIK. It was mental.

The newer ones are turbocharged aren't they?

I always found the SLK55's to be hilarious (in a good way). It's as if they've taken their smallest convertible and deliberately tried to stuff the biggest engine in it.

I bet its hoot - enjoy it!

Hmmmmm I only use the SLK on the weekends so I don't use it day to day. A weekends mixed driving to Goodwood was around 23mpg, £85 to fill up. Tax is £220 a year (it was registered as a PLG vehicle rather than on emissions). Brake pads and discs are absolutely ridiculous (i.e 4 figures for an all round swap)

Currently looking for a good indy in Kent for servicing as the garage I bought the car from didn't use a dealership to keep the full Merc history. But my local dealer will let me supply parts for servicing. Which takes off a massive chunk.
