I'm looking at putting a rig together for VR gaming downstairs, have a room we don't use much so thought I'd use it for my Rift (4 sensor set up).

Looking at a 1080Ti for graphics and looking at pairing it with a Ryzen 1600/1700 and a B350 MB plus 16GB 3200 DDR4.

I have a main rig upstairs that will be upgraded once Coffee Lake is available but this one will be manly just VR for now.

Would the 1600 be okay paired with a 1080Ti or should I go for the 1700?
Which B350 MB would you recommend (have a RIVE in my main rig so leaning toward ASUS).

Morning, ryzen 1600 should be fine- actually give more or less the same performance as 1700. Normally we all quote the 1700 is user specifically asks for it, applications they use would benefit from it or the Stream- gaming its 1600 :D

also included Aorus Ti- the card has internal HDMI - if you have a case with can accept 5" bay drives you can have HDMI ports at the front of the case to plug in your head set for ease and extra length

recommend the same for this user

what you save with 1600 over the 1700 helps the Ti fund- specially for 3rd party boards like the Aorus

Thanks for the info, very informative, I've not been up to date on hardware since I put my last rig together but since getting the Rift I'd like to get a new system.

I've been reading up more on Ryzen and the gains with having faster DDR4 and that Samsung IC's seem to be the ones to go for.

drop in, enable XMP and its all done ! no real difference over 3000 vs 3200 but least with 8 packs kit its 100% samsung and will work! might get 3333hz out of it with some playing around
