Summary:

+ Runs slightly quieter, a few degrees colder and has an easier installation process than the Dark Rock Pro 3.

- Potential RAM compatibility issues with taller modules, like the Pro 3.

The Noctua NH-D15 does still slightly outperform the Dark Rock Pro 4 in outright cooling performance. But, be quiet! has made some welcome improvements here over the Pro 3, and offers a (subjectively) better looking cooler than the Noctua at a lower price.

Yes, it is slightly quieter than the NH-D15 with fans at 100%:

Although, be quiet! uses a 135mm/120mm fan combo in the Pro 4, compared to dual 140mm fans in the NH-D15. I suspect the Pro 4 would be even quieter with 2x135mm fans, as they spin slower.

I am still unsure on Darkrocks, I am using a H100i v2 and I get around 56c max load while the dark rock pros get around 67c with similar specs.

You're getting 10 degrees less for an extra £40 which makes it hard for me to recommend these dark pros.
 
iam seriously considering getting this or maybe the noctua u14s for nearly £25 cheaper but the god awful fan colour is putting me off that.

my biggest question is..would it be ok with kingston hyper x beast ram (height wise)? as i have ram in all 4 slots on my z97 board.

Hyper X Beast RAM is 46.44mm tall and Dark Rock Pro 4 has 45-46mm from bottom of 120mm fan for RAM when fan is centered on fins 6mm below top of cooler, so I'm pretty sure you can move the fan up a couple mm and it will clear.

I really wanted to jump on the pro 4, but RAM clearance is still something that was brought up in reviews and lower tach 2 fan speed than pro 3.

I just went with a h115i in the end for £10 more.

believe with 8 Pack ram can remove the top of the heatsink with 2 screws

makes it around 38mm

also on their website, can see they are using Trident Z (44mm tall) sticks in slot 1 & 3 with the fan raised slightly to be flush with the sink cover

This thing recently got a pretty scathing review at Hardocp. If you need a huge cooler with ram clearance maybe look at the Scythe Ninja 5.

edit: it was the non pro, my sleepy mistake.

Well that's put me off.

The Dark pro 3 on other reviews acctually does better than the 4.

It's a shame because aesthetically it's the best looking cooler.

I don't find a review by them of Dark Rock Pro 4, only Dark Rock 4. Could you post link to their review of Dark Rock Pro 4 please?

Hard|OCP testing procedure isn't even remotely accurate. Their 'real world results' mentality is anything but real world. They test in a case system saying "We are generally going to see temperatures inside our computer cases that are above our ambient surroundings". That is only true if user doen't setup their case airflow to match component needs. Their test case is a Corsair 750D Airflow which support 8 fans, but only has 3x AF140L (2x front intake and 2x rear exhaust) in it .. with case intake air temp being monitored right behind front intake fans, when it should be monitored in front of cooler fan. :rolleyes: Sorry but the only 'real world' involve here is their own or someone who has an identical poorly optimized airflow system.
 
finally got this installed and quite pleased with the results actually, it's super quiet and a beast of a thing. it's not a great experience installing it is my only gripe. had to raise the front fan height as doyll advised and my ram just fits underneath and its nearly covered all 4 sticks by looks of it, bought some thermal grizzly instead of using the supplied paste also.

had to get it from a competitor as ocuk are asking way over the odds for it by time delivery costs are included(nearly £19 more than i paid).
 
I was fortunate enough to win a Dark Rock 4 in the BeQuiet! Competition thing they run last month.
Be thinking about going back to air so might be a good time to benchmark my custom loop, Noctua NH-U14S and this. Just need to find the time.
