Xbox One X

Ok next question... as a PS4 gamer I'm struggling to understand what is the difference between xbox live gold and xbox game pass?

Do I have to buy both to get the same experience I had on PS+ or is xbox live gold the old name for xbox game pass?

It seems a bit confusing.

Xbox live gold is your ps+ .allows online play and get some free games each month.
Game pass is like PS Now except it's not streamed, you download the games instead .

Thanks mate, that sounds good.

I'm enjoying the console so far :)

The Xbox is absolutely redundant for a PC gamer. How long will it be before MS drop the brand or sell it off? It's dead in Japan, irrelevant in other parts of Asia, non existent in other markets i.e. Africa, South America, etc, and unpopular in Europe. Xbox exists only for US/UK markets.

It's a brand waiting to become extinct.

As you said, it's only really redundant for people who also own a gaming capable PC. It's for people who don't own a gaming capable PC...which is quite a lot of people.

However I seem to go against your theory. I own a gaming capable PC, but I also own an Xbox, because I only really use my PC for PC exclusive games

I have a gaming PC as well and consider the One X as an extension to it.

I also used to believe that but now I'm not so sure. For example, there are still some older games that you can't get on PC like Red Dead Redemption and even the newer ones like Gears of War 4 are now broken from what I've read - nVidia has done something to the drivers which make the game crash or not run. I've not fancied downloading 120GB to see for myself. I don't think I'd ever buy a game on the Windows 10 store so those MS exclusive titles are Xbox exclusive as far as I'm concerned.

Far from it. I have a very expensive Threadripper 24 core CPU + GTX1080 KFA2 HOF those 2 alone cost around £1500 plus another £2000 on the other high end components & 49" HDTV. I bought an X1X about 4 weeks ago. Nearly every single game I have rebought on it which I already owned on PC actually looks better, loads way faster & is an overall better gaming experience. X1X will if anything replace PC gaming in the short term as for just over £400 you have a very capable 4K gaming device. A decent 4K capable PC will cost you around £1.5K minimum if you want HDR as well then £2.5K minimum. On X1X if you have a HDR display its default in many games which on PC lack HDR altogether due to Win10 HDR DRM (you must have an Intel IGP GPU as a minimum for HDR on Win10).

They compliment each other right now and PC is still an almighty gaming platform but the writing is on the wall short term for PC 4K gaming the cost is way too much for most gamers. X1X is a superb 4K gaming unit for what it is & even doubles up as a 4K UHD player.

GOW4 if you own on Win 10 it will also let you download the X1X game as its a Play Anywhere title so you already own on both platforms. But IMO the gameplay is very poor & boring although it has HDR on X1X & looks a lot nicer than PC due to that & more patch fixes. Win 10 version is not really updated anymore.

Dead Rising 4 on X1X is yet another game which looks better than on PC. Mainly due to Native HDR being implemented makes a nice difference to the gfx & loading times are slightly faster plus game feels more optimised. Not much in it as PC is also a great platform for this game but X1X is definitely a better overall experience.

With the 120Hz option on Xbox One X, what can we expect in regards to games being over 60 fps?

Surely the AAA blockbuster titles like Battlefield and the likes won't reach 120 fps with such a weak CPU right?

Would it be for less intensive games and backward compat games?

I doubt we'll see any games above 60fps in all honesty. As you say, the CPU is too weak for anything above 60fps really.

It might render the dashboard really smoothly though :p

Then could be a surprise Windows Mixed Reality Headset support announcement for E3 maybe?
