Hi guys,

I have a Kingston SSD in my wifes PC that had windows installed on it. It is less than a year old and I think it has failed. Here is what has happened so far:

1) Windows posts the "please install boot drive" error message when attempting to boot
2) BIOS sees the drive but does not recognize it as a boot device
3) Windows repair cannot find the drive and will not install a fresh version of windows to it
4) Windows install is unable to create a partition
5) with the drive installed in my PC I cannot see it in windows explorer
6) Drive management is unable to initialize the drive and says it due to hardware error.

Do you think this is a good case to open an RMA and get it replaced?

Have you checked all obvious stuff
Power to the drive and data, try cables on another rig or a different data port

Clean the contact on the drive where the cables go

Try wiggling the SATA connector while it's connected to power, could be a dry joint etc

If none of those steps prove fruitful and it does not work on another PC I would definitely open up a RMA

*just realised you said bios sees the drive , my guess is the SSD controller on the drive is dead*
