Danny Baker sacked

They 'investigated' but it wasn't the result you wanted.
When nothing is done about Danny Baker there will be many who didn't get the result they wanted.
That's life.

The whole 'investigated' thing is the point. They didn't investigate. They 'investigated'. All the time they waste on things such as going after Danny baker could actually be spent investigating so they don't 'investigate'.

No investigation = no police officer even coming to see you.

They will put one cop on it for 30 minutes, don't sweat.
How would you feel if you made a complaint about something and nothing happened?

That has happened every time I've reported something. I had my phone stolen on a night out, nothing happened. I had my wheelie bin stolen, nothing happened. I had a garden gate stolen at a property I was renting, nothing happened. Yet someone complaining about words said on Twitter means the Police are out investigating. There's plenty of crimes that have tangible effects they could be investigating instead of hurt feelings over words said on the internet.

But it's easy to go after twits on Twitter because they don't really have to investigate as the witch hunt has been done for them, they just need to collect and hand it over to the CPS and let them decide.

That's because the nature of harm and loss has changed in UK society. Most laws were written for actual physical loss or harm suffered to the complainant. Even defamation laws, such as libel or slander, had to have a proven element of loss attached to them be it financial or reputational.

In modern times the nature of harm has moved to the metaphysical with perceived insult and transferred offence.

So 3 crimes that were unlikely to ever be solved weren't solved but the crime that was conducted in public and required no real work to gather evidence was prosecuted. That sounds about right for an under funded and probably poorly targeted police force.

If we want to have both types of crimes solved we need to vote for a government that will provide funding for that amount of work.

Well if investigating zero Twitter posts means they can solve a handful of actual crimes that's a good trade off in my eyes. The block button is there for a reason.

The guy posted a picture on twitter, people pointed out the potentially racist undertones which could be associated with it so he removed the tweet. It seems a bit harsh to lose your job over it. Where exactly do we draw the line when it comes to risking offending people with a random image?

I mean the President of the USA literally accused a percentage of Mexican migrants of being drug dealers, criminals and rapists yet he's still in charge of the most powerful country in the world.

the difference being he was elected by racists for being one of them. so that is fine.

Baker didn't do anything racist as far as I am concerned. some people took it the wrong way and the ones calling for his head are either apologists or pansies or looking for fame/money.

Well they got what they wanted, ergo they win and he loses.

I have yet to see this cartoon, did Baker draw it himself or did he "borrow" it? His bizarre and unkempt appearance and self harming actions come as no surprise given he includes Paul Gascoigne amongst his close friends. I wonder if alcohol or other stimulants were a party to his Tweet? ;)

That... is very well put.
