Imagine if AMD stopped using a stupid out of date cooling system that's been in place for 5 years+

Not out of date for the reasoning they used it, it's meant to be a equitable production that everyone, no matter how tech savvy they are, can pop it in without worrying.

Anyone else either wont buy it or will use a water cooling solution.

Yeah watched it earlier this afternoon. Navi supports soft tables like Vega does. Who could have thought. :D
Also to those not undertanding, look at how the clock speeds are harmonized around the 2200 mark by using soft tables and not brute force.

Look how close to the 2080 it is, a card double the price!!!!

A 1700mhz xt is 90% the performance of the 2070S at 1900mhz which turing caps at 2050 ish. If we can get custom Xt cards to 2100mhz this could be a killer card under £400 which will best a 1080 Ti... which yes is a 2 1/2 year old card let's not forget it's still a power house for today

The price cut has made this card far more enticing, i wonder if the 2.3GHz is game stable, the German translation isn't amazing.

To be honest they seem to be easily doing 2000-2100MHz, so I am not at all surprised to see with better coolers and voltage they can do more. Once beyond 2000MHz they are like 1080Ti performance at £380, with game pass, they are incredible value for money.

Yes the blower design is not to everyones liking, but fact is the design is clean, it looks cool and it does the job, yes it could be more powerful cooling wise and it could be more quieter but this latest blower cooler is really not all that bad, the people complaining don't even own one.

AMD has partners that doesn't want to put out of business. Contrary to Nvidia who has alienated all it's AIBs with Turing using a heatsink that is in par to the best of them.

depends on that view. AMD specially with vega kept AIB out for months of releasing their custom cards . looks like same for Navi - taking a while

You can bet they will find 10-20% more performance in driver and game tweaking too.

Undervolting is the first thing that is needed here :D
It shows 10% higher numbers before any other overclocking or cooler replacement. And there is another 8%-12% gain on DX11 games by using PCIe 4.0 instead of 3.0.

AMD gave us here a very rough diamond. God knows what the 5800XT would provide when announced in January 2020 CES

So what do we reckon this translates in terms of percentage bump for the 5700?

5700 (non XT) seems hitting 2100 mhz from what supposed to be 1625 game clock, that's 30% clock improvement.
We shall see how that is affected by soft tables hacking around the registry. I wouldn't be surprised if this one gets close to 2070S also with good cooling.
