Nice results - your chip is better than mine:) Is it AE or regular?

I could not complete firestrike extreme at 1860/911mv.

At 1850/919mv with the power slider tickled out to 3% I scored 11826 graphics score - my boost was mid to high 1700's. Planning a cpu upgrade soon to R3600 from R1600 so that might help as well.

I need to test higher frequency at these lower voltages next to find a good sweet spot with air cooling.

Have had some testing of my own on 5700xt and Firestrike extreme. Tested stock cooler and water. With killawatt meter in wall for card power. 110-120w computer power. 7700k at 5.2ghz on aio. Sappire 5700xt( samsung mem)

voltage scaling stock cooler ( set at 100% at :

core/mem volt watts avg real clock avg Powertarget junktion temp(highest) Fsx Gfx score

1860/910 mhz 913mv 110 w 1810mhz 0% 66 degrees 12110

Watercooling. Soft power table mod. water 24 degrees. 31 degrees idle gpu.

1860/910 mhz 908mv 105w 1800mhz 0% 52 degrees 12122 (210-215w of powerdraw at wall :O)
2151/910 mhz 1091mv 190w 2100mhz 0% 62 degrees 13700
2200/910 mhz 1141mv 210w 2150mhz 0% 65 degrees 13920
2250/910 mhz 1220mv 240w 2200mhz 10% 71 degrees 14050
2270/910 mhz 1250mv 270w 2220mhz 20% 78 degrees Fail. card fail in test 2 when junction hit 78 degrees.

Will test cold scaling next. With some cold water.

Power eff at 1860/910 is funny 110w of power from wall at avg. and 1800 core avg boost(stayed at 1800mhz all the time). Hope AMD can fix mem oc for the card. My guess is that samsung gddr6 can do better then 35mhz oc from stock. 9900k wil likly give some better gfx score for the card. This was just an volt and temp test for my card.

nice work.

i read that power states for vram are broken with the softmods and that’s why it crashes out if you adjust it beyond 925ish.

The VRAM speeds baffling me. Is the same ram Nvidia uses, and should be displaying 14000 speed not 875 with a 16 divider. Yet even then. 35*16 = 560, so 14560 is too low ram speed for overclocked GDDR6.
15000 is more normal, 15500 pretty easy with good cooling.

Yeah that kind of sucks because under water you are only achieving nice temps but its not worth the outlay (to most).

I would however like to mention that with AMD you will see some leaps in games/performance due to driver releases (with it being a new card). So expect another 10-15% improvement over time without any overclocks.

Is the 875mhz vram the actual mhz of each vram chip? Not that firmilar with how vram works.

AMD uses the same 256bit GDDR6 14gps found in Turing cards. Somehow the Nvidia cards report the correct 7000Mhz speed while can be overclocked to 10-15%, and the 5700s report 875Mhz with barely overclock 4%.

Sure it might be reporting the single chip speed and there are 8 of them so 875*8 = 7000.
However doesn't explain why that crap memory overclocking :/

As long as Australia Post don’t screw up my delivery I should have my 5700XT today so expect a new one for the list :)

Quick question, should I remove the existing AMD software installed for my RX580 and start from scratch?

Delivery what you have the kangaroos for? Use them :p
However mine had a bit of a trek. Ordered on the 7th, arrived to my ex wife house (Scotland) on the 16th, she sent it on 17th and just arrived in Greece. :D
(AMD doesn't ship to Greece).

@shankly1985 haven't forgotten you, the GPU just arrived and Division 2 downloads a patch

@shankly1985 ok here out of the box, 8600K @ 4.7Ghz and out of the box 5700XT AE in a warm room (30C) with 19.7.2. Division 2 run on Ultra settings at 2560x1440. The card didn't went over 95% utilization
qrXKJBU.png

The clock was most of the time stable at 1880Mhz, the card didn't move over 76C and the noise was 30db on my desk at ear level. I have a P3 open case on the floor and sitting on the desk less than 0.5m away.
It was the soft "whoosh" of the air moving through the cooler that made the noise not the fan, even at 2200RPM, and haven't seen so much air blasting through on the back even on the Vega 64 reference.

Talking about noise of the card, my ambient noise, without something on speakers, is 28db, as the cicadidae are "singing" outside (over 34C today).

Update. Setting the card to go from the automatic 20% fan speed to manual 40% fan speed yeah, can hear the fan as it hits 40db, but this is ONLY if set the fan speed manually.

To me biggest dissepointment is all the reviewers out there giving the 5700 and 5700xt injustice. Heck at 910-950mv and 1800-1860 core these cards are the most eff cards on the market. No heat no wattage 0% performance loss in most cases. 100-125w and 2070 super / 2080 performance. Performance watt at undervolt and stock clocks is outstanding. Firestrike xtreme is an good test for stability for both gcn and rdna when overclocking and undervolting. To me an big Navi with 80+ Cu is likly possible if they keep volt at 900-950mv range and at 1700-1850 core clocks. Would fit in 210-250watts range likly. My oced radeon 7 did 2230/1250 (real boost clocks)on fsx under cold water. So long 5700xt is about 100mhz higher core then radeon 7 under normal water cooling temps. Think many review sites dont have an idea how to overclock or undervolt.

AMD could have set them with better stock configurations.
