It does seem to sell quite well all over the place, it explains why it's out of stock frequently.

I have to say i'm a little surprised at that, i would have thought the best sellers would be, like they are with Ryzen 2000 the 6 core SKUs, the 3600. i bet its a lot of lower level workstation guys salivating at them.

When the original TR was released an AMD rep said they found it was the highest core count cpu that sold the most not the affordable end.

The price was clearly not a problem compared to the alternatives.

There's definitely a market for cores and AMD is the name if you want ALL THE CORES in a desktop. May also be relevant that the 12 core 3900x does appear to be an upgrade to the original 16 core TR.

3700X for gaming only as I already have another mega system with a 1920X do not really need to pay extra for the 3800X or 3900X at this time. Very little software uses the 1920X 24 cores ;)

It’s interesting that that the cpu that is out of stock so much and very little of it and over 100 pounds more then release price. Is the most brought on this poll:)

would like a 3900x but none in stock or the ones that are in stock are overpriced so still waiting, its just been 8 weeks but never mind. might see what the price of the 3950x will be as it looks like the 3900x will be in stock when they come out.

Never built a amd system and at this rate i might not be

Still waiting for the 3950x + Gigabyte Xtreme, though at that point I start to wonder whether the upcoming TR plus a not-too-expensive motherboard might end up not much difference, for more lanes and performance...

I went with a 3600 but a higher end X570 board (Asus strix E) so that I can drop in a higher end 4000 series chip when their prices start dropping.
My previous system lasted me around 9 years so be as well get the latest chip for the socket.
