Pcie 2 was my thought, but there's nothing in the requirements to make this obvious. Certainly neither the vendor or Asus meninges this was a problem.

I'm not going to troubleshoot, just enjoy an enforced upgrade

Managed to bag one for under £500, which in the current climate isn't too unreasonable. Had it about 2 weeks now and very happy with it. Bought Battlefield V for 79p and been having a blast.
