So, erm, I've just bought this - a 2006 750i

Looks like the bonnet isn't latched on the passenger side.
Oh, good spot thanks, that's something for me to be aware of. It could well have been but I've had it open a couple of times since then.

It's definitely latched on both sides now.

Filled up yesterday and as I've hit 2,000 miles now, thought I'd post this.

The 32.2 was from filling up, driving 320 miles at motorway speeds with a light foot and then filling up again so I doubt I'll ever reach that figure again. My last two fill ups have been with Esso Super and the penultimate one was before a 200 mile drive and also includes around 80 miles driving around town. I generally get petrol when I'm down to about half a tank. After that first long drive I mentioned, I'm not really going light footed any more. I'm not booting it hard everywhere but I am enjoying the power that's there.

The front passenger window has stopped working. The first thing to check is the fuse but I can't get my man sized hands into the fuse box to check it so I'll pop in and see a friend who has small hands sometime to get him to pull it so I can see if it's that.

Extractor tool / overgrown tweezers in the box ? .. has that now gone with the OEM jack bm used to supply
Pretty sure the original jack is still there along with the original first aid kit in the underside of the boot lid and the torch in the glove box as well.

Didn't see any extraction tool though.

:D

About the same as I get from the S2000. I do have a heavy right foot though and S2000s aren't exactly known for being the most economical car in the world.
I seem to recall getting less than that out of my old 750i. Maybe it's all the B-roads I drive.

I get 30 mpg for a 15 year old focus, when I drove over to stoke from Oxford I was getting over 40 mpg, I get around 300 miles to a 55L tank, I managed over 400 miles because of long distance. It's more economical to drive it for longer without stopping what ever the car

Every time I drive this car, I have a smile on my face. I don't go out much these days but when I do, I walk out the front door and I have to decided between the Mazda and the BMW and 95% of the time I get in the BMW.

Just went out today, of course I picked the correct car and I just love driving it. I know it's been said before many times but it's big, it's comfortable and it's utterly effortless. I posted a thread a while back about possibly chopping in both the Mazda and the BMW for something else but each time I drive this car, I make the conscious decision that I don't want to change it.

Thanks @Malt_Vinegar :)

My brother and I were driving along the A127 towards the M25 this morning on our way to Bletchley Park. I moved into the inside lane, plenty of space both behind and in front of me and was braking gently to slow down to match the speed of the traffic in that lane.

Ten seconds later. Whomp, a transit hits me up the back end.

His first words were "Sorry mate, didn't see you brake".

The damage is a lot worse than it looks, the whole bar thing behind the bumper is bent, the carpet in the boot is now half an inch too long where it's all been pushed in. I've already had it looked at by my friends garage and we've decided it's not going to be an insurance buy back, it's just not worth throwing a lot of money at it to repair it.

So that's it. Written off.

I know it's only a car and I've had it for less than a year but I'm really quite sad right now now.

It can't be helped chap, it's a big old beast, and repairing it to make it properly worth keeping would be too much in my eyes.

Sad times, but it is only a car at the end of the day :)
