******Official Star Citizen / Squadron 42 Thread******

I'd recommend using virtual desktop, but if you don't want to buy it (and/or don't have suitable router in the room), then I guess just follow the video above.
What GPU do you have?

Quest 3 via the oculink cable, though I'll be upgrading to the new steam frame in a few months
Good luck getting it in a few months lol. If it is anything like the Steam deck's first launch, Unless you got your fiinger on the trigger on say 12/01/26. at 14:00:00 , You wont be in batch 1 or even 2 for delivery and will most likely wait 6+ months until it finally gets delivered to you!

I've nailed first wave before, hopefully I'll get lucky again

Patch has dropped, 4.5 and is 50GB.

Progress Tracker update:
We've updated a few deliverables in the Progress Tracker, which you can review below.
Just a reminder: when progress on a deliverable is marked as complete, it doesn’t necessarily mean it’s ready for release. It may still require downstream support, transition to another team for further work, or other additional steps before completion.

Inventory → End of January 2026
Crafting → End of March 2026
Engineering → End of March 2026

Oh nice, I will try that shortly with the VR. I got virtual desktop recently as I had some credit to use, seemed to work well despite me not having an optimal network setup.
I suppose Voice Attack would be useful too, but feels quite off putting to think of all the setup involved including the joysticks, one thing at a time I guess.

What vr u using?

Have just reinstalled Windows 11 on my main rig, which has new mobo, cpu that was rma and new psu.

Updated bios as well. So far all OK and I think I'll just enable xmp on the bios and leave it as is with no oc or anything.

God speed. I just set a modest curve offset and a temp max and leave it.

Im finally back on my main rig. installed windows 11, had a panic attack as all my ssd were bitlocked(**** off WINDOWS) and had to ask ai how to fix it and i managed to by logging into my MS account and going int the bitlock recover device section to enter 48 digits for EACH ******* SSD i was using on my main rig(5 in total).

Got SC all ready, drivers up to date, bios up to date. Some of my sim apps installed but not all.

Adobe creative cloud installed etc.

I need to finish off installing my sim rig software(simpro, Virpil configure etc)

All my settings from my Stream deck is of course vanished so i need to sort that out and then i can finally sort out VR on it.

Ouch, yeah I have had to get a few bitlocker recovery codes before from work.

I've just imported the dual alpha keybindings. Forgot I need to install joy2key, so on that.
Also didn't make sure I charged my headset earlier so it's doing that but I can play with the cable in if needs be.

Played it for a bit, decent implementation , not wowed by it but probably as I've played Elite in VR before so not a fair comparison. I think as always with this stuff, we are held back by the tech itself, i.e much more powerful GPU's needed and headsets with better quality. The drop in IQ was pretty jarring coming from a nice 4k display. I probably wouldn't play in VR regularly at present. Cockpit looked great but the outside world not so much.

I also need to get more familiar with controls as I kept having to check a binding map.

I played it through SteamVR first and it looked awful so something was going on there settings wise. Through Virtual Desktop was pretty flawless even though I don't have optimal setup (1gb Virgin media hub in next room through one door about 6m away.

There's a lot of settings need changing to get the absolute best out of it, unfortunately a lot of it is trial and error. If you've got wifi 6 at home, you need to force the headset on to that which makes a massive difference, with virtual desktop set the streamer to av1 encoding and up the bit rate etc for a start. If your pc isn't connected by ethernet to the internet, I'd do that as well.

Then sc has plenty of settings as well

It is Wifi6 yeah, got PC connected by ethernet too. Codec is on auto so you'd think it went for AV1 as it knows a Q3 was connected but I can force it to make sure. I have VD set to 'godlike' and tbf performance seemed fine, it was just the fidelity of the outside environs. I didn't notice too many settings relating to quality in SC, the experimental VR stuff seemed more for other stuff but I'll have another fiddle around. Oh and I disabled the async spacewarp thing too.

I did think about getting a stronger router but tbh networking has always been my achiles heel when it comes to tech and there is so much stuff connected I don't really want to mess it all up, all the sky boxes, smart lights etc etc. Also as it seems to work fine as is, seems little point, especially as I can just open the door which boosts the speed lol. I haven't touched anything in the OC debug tool because I was getting confused what was controlling what, like you can set scaling/res in SteamVR but also the headset, and other stuff and I never truly understood what was the optimal way of doing things. I think VD has taken away the need for me to fiddle with a lot of it.

edit: Turns out I don't have wifi6! I saw a popup on my PC so thought I had. Gonna ask Virgin for the newer hub and see what they say. I can get about 5/600mb wireless currently.
edit2: Hub5 being sent FOC, will have Wifi6 on 23rd when it arrives, wouldn't have known about that if you hadn't posted :)
