Batman: Arkham Asylum - 9/10

Never been a huge Batman fan but loved this game at launch. It's even better now with the addition of graphical mods and 4k cutscenes. :D

Yeah an unexpectedly excellent game only let down by the clunkiness of controls on the PC - I don't know if they ever fixed it but for example on release escaping Croc's lair was almost unplayable on PC controls - IIRC I had to borrow an Xbox controller to get past that bit and hated every moment of it.

RDR2.

6/10

I'm ambivalent about this game. The story is great, the epilogue surprising and good. Great scenery and open world. Fantastic detail.

Terrible mechanics, its like a ketamine sim. It gets far too easy. Terribly buggy almost broken duelling. Parts of it could be tedious. Nonsensical law system.

HROT

+ Very slick fast-paced FPS
+ Attention to detail - and a sense of humour at times
+ Superb music/audio in general
+ Manages to make the limited colour palette work
+ Reasonably challenging (for me) at normal difficulty, but still very enjoyable

- Can't really add much here, but I guess I enjoyed the medieval levels slightly more than the industrial themed ones,
but they were all very good. None stood out as weak.

I'd be interested to see something else of a similar nature by the developer,
though maybe with a touch more colour next time.

Hades 2 - 9/10
Didn't just complete it, went and did 100% of the achievements....was a slog but what a brilliant game. Only gripe is that I think given they have the asphodel map and the Olympus area it feels a bit sad you only get to see it all occasionally, and once you clear the main story you never see it again.

Just finished Borderlands 2 after 112 hours, became a slog towards the end and left about 10 side optional missions unfinished.
The story was decent, but parts of it got lost as I was battling the hordes while the story played out.
Not going to bother with Vault Hunter mode I don't think, but may clean up the last few optional missions.
Mostly enjoyed my time with the game 8/10

Clair Obscur expedition 33 - 11/10

Incredible game! The story, music and the acting is top notch. For me it scratched the itch of a good RPG like the old days with turn based combat. FF7 being one of my favourite games ever, i thoroughly enjoyed the game from start to finish, it takes a lot to grip me now days and Exp 33 did that for me.

Nier Automata.

Yes, only once so far, appreciate this is not "completed" yet :P

I'm a bit angry at myself that I slept on this for so long, had it in my steam account for ages and tried once or twice but bounced off it. Solid 8/10 so far, really enjoyed it. Just started playthrough 2 :)

Super Robot Wars Y - 5/10

This one was a letdown. The biggest disappointment was on the technical side. The series has never been a graphical powerhouse, but the previous installment, Super Robot Wars 30 (the first on PC), at least ticked the basic boxes for a modern PC game, like 4k support. After a four year gap to shift to the Unity engine (the longest gap in the series' history), what we get is a huge step backwards, with resolution now capped at 1080p. Yes, you can stretch it up to full screen in borderless windowed mode, but it still looks blurry compared to its own direct predecessor.

And in terms of gameplay and story... meh. I think I've seen most of the tricks in the series' toolkit by now and Y isn't doing anything new. It's nice that they've finally managed to cut through the licensing issues and get a Macross property in a Western-released title, but they also picked the absolute worst Macross property. None of the mission design sparkles and the story definitely plods for most of its runtime.

Baldurs Gate 3.

10/10

The spiritual successor to Dungeon master on the Amiga.

Completing a game is a rarity for me. The last game before BG3 was red dead redemption 2. Before that, witcher 3

All 10/10

Don't be surprised if you're a bit down on playthrough 2, as it gets a bit samey.

Things really pick up when you get to the end of that.

I'm just starting another venture into the Assassins Creed series. I've played them all before, but fancied giving it another go. On topic - I've finished the Original Assassins Creed game, with a few prettifying Mods, and the Parkour Mod. Currently making my way through Assassins Creed 2 now - I think I have about 2 hours left and I'll be heading straight into Brotherhood, then Revelations. Ezio Trilogy is just peak AC <3 I got the books for Christmas too :D

If I time it just right and I may be able to play the Assassins Creed Black Flag Remake in the place of the original! I loved it first time around.

Rating for AC1 - 7 out of 10. Great little game, get's very samey, and it's clunky, but it get's extra points for being the origin of a franchise I love.

The Last of Us 2 - Solid game; great story, well written characters. The controls were a bit annoying at times, and the AI wasn't great, but it still deserves a solid 8/10.
