What film did you watch last night?

The Belles of St. Trinian's (1954)
A group of rebellious schoolgirls foil the theft of a famous steed while making gin to sell

Blue Murder at St Trinian's (1957)
When the students of St. Trinian's, an all-girl preparatory school, see their school commandeered by police forces, the devilish girls find ways to turn the situation into bedlam. Soon afterward, they cheat their way to a European trip.

tomorrow will be Pure Hell of St Trinian's and The Great St Trinian's train robbery

Die Hard (1988)

Despite what a recent survey by the BBFC said, in our house it's a Christmas film.

I've seen it so many times since it was released it's ridiculous and the more I watch it, the more I appreciate Alan Rick man's performance. He's just so good, it's a shame that Oscar snobbery wouldn't even consider it for a nomination back then.

But I doubt anyone in this thread needs me to tell them how good Rickman is or how good the film is. It's the Mary Poppins of action films, practically perfect in every way.

10/10

Predator and Terminator are much better

Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery (2025) - 6/10

A disappointing film which takes too long setting up the scenario only for the mystery to be rather straightforward and its solution too mundane.

The cast of suspects are all unlikeable and apart from the over the top performance of the detective, there’s no attempts at humour or wit.

The presentation style was good and the Father’s performance as a torn man was solid, but the religious setting didn’t feel right and generally, the film was pretty dull and forgettable.

Oh my gosh.....2000 meters to Andriivka

I'm suffering from anxiety. Usually films have become my sort of relief, hence me suddenly appearing here a lot.
Wanted to watch this for a while, but it's not been available in the UK.
So far I've lasted 20 minutes & had to turn it off.
Imagine warfare, times by 1000 & true.
Will post on finishing, but I literally atm have no words...
Happy Xmas.

Spongebob squarepants, the search for spongebob

Might have the name wrong, but its the one that just came out.

Had a really weird 15 minute short film from another franchise at the start, whole cinema was like errr wrong film. It was post the film rating as well.
Anyway, was slow in the middle, I just stayed awake.

Kids liked it.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

Fantasy epic in which an innocent halfling ends up in the possession of an evil weapon that must be destroyed.

Outstanding. The layers of polish and detail on this are astonishing. Trying to limit my gushing…

This film has such menace. It absolutely scared the **** out of me in the cinema when I was around 12 years old. The juxtaposition between the beauty of the shire and the horror of the ring wraiths is just… perfect. That shot of them all walking in with their swords out as the bar keeper hides is… terrifying. Still gives me uneasy tingles all this time later. Ditto to the scene where the horse shows up with the red demon eye as they hide behind the tree.

95% of the special effects stand up brilliantly and some are still ‘best in class’ even today. The orcs are surely the best make-up / costumers ever… and that initial shot of the Balrog is just

It lacks the battle bombast of the sequel films but I’m firmly in the camp that the first one is the best.

10/10 - arguably the GOAT.

Beauty and the Beast (1991)

One of my favourite Disney animated films. I've watched it many times with my children and yesterday with my granddaughters. Great songs, voice acting, beautifully drawn and animated.

Der Baader Meinhof Komplex. German language film that delves into a fascinating time in post war German history.

Sometimes you just need a film like this, even as an adult. I still love the Shrek movies!
