What film did you watch last night?

The real issue really with the Tourette’s scandal is that the BAFTA’s are pre-recorded and the BBC chose not to bleep it out on a pre watershed showing.
Can you imagine what he would have come out with if Donald Trump was handing out an award? "Orange ****!" or something. Mind you, that would have probably got him a round of applause.

Though I wonder whether that would've made a difference on the likelihood of drama/outrage.

That being said, I do agree that the BBC not bleeping it out was an issue. Such a word would usually be bleeped out or cut out in every other context in their programmes, right? So why not bleep it out during this?

Chalamet did well in that movie but there was no real redemption and it didn't feel much like the character grew at all. The ending scene seemed like an attempt to soften his character but it was too little too late.
Yeah Chalamet did very well in that role but I agree there was no redemption.

Cold Storage (2026) - 6/10

A good comedy horror which has a lot of good ideas and it delivers them well but as a whole, it doesn’t quite come together as it should.

The B-movie style is odd without being eccentric but the story, although good, is slow to start and abrupt to end.

The special effects and characters are good enough, but I felt that some characters were unnecessary and less of them would have made their interactions more meaningful

Gran Torino (2008)

Seen this rated in this thread recently so thought I'd give it a go, never seen it.

Was good, it didn't grab me quite as much but did enjoy it. Clint Eastwood would have been what, 78 in this?

Fair play, he's 95 years old now, crazy really, what a career, what a life.

7/10

It is weird to imagine and/or see actors like Clint Eastwood once they are that old / past really acting any more - you see so much of them when in their prime.

Blackberry on freeview last night, as zany as team america - very watchable and personally educational .

Steve coogans doctor strangelove on Sky - great theatrical remake, some of the language seemed infused by Trump.

Not been particularly well over the last couple of days, so been binging.

Return of the Living Dead - 4k disc. Arrow produces some of the best 4k's. This is no exception, looks fantastic. Trash is taking of her clothes again! Great film.
Kuffs - Free on Youtube - I know it's not great, but I love it. Just cheese.
Commando - Bluray - Arnie at his peak.
King Ralph - Free on Youtube - Another dreadful film that I really enjoy.
High Spirits - Free on Youtube - And another one. I may really like Peter O'Toole...
Bowfinger - Bluray - Could be Steve Martin's best film. Also might be Eddie Murphy's last when he was funny. Frank Oz also did a superb job.
Galaxy Quest - 4k disc - Never give up, never surrender! Best Star trek film ever made.

Yup.

It is crazy with these very old actors who are still alive.

William Shatner is one that really got me thinking, he's 94. I watched Wrath of Khan a few months ago, that was made just before I was born, and he was 49/50 in that, and he's still alive today.

But 94/95 is pretty damn old, I mean fair play to them, you could only hope.

It's a weird thing about being a famous actor like that in movies it almost immortalises you, but also at the same time almost make time seem like nothing as you can see them in an old movie, see them now and think damn.....

I have forgotten to update here for a while. I have recently got Shudder and BFI Player. These are the last few:

Timecrimes 2007 (6 out of 10) - Good time travel movie I hadn't heard of before.
The Bone Temple 2026 (8 out of 10) - Really really good! I really hope the third one comes out!
Past Lives 2023 (8 out of 10) - Really well made.
Terrified 2017 (5 out of 10) - Quite creepy. Really gory.
Swallow 2019 (8 out of 10) - Disturbing.
When Evil Lurks 2023 (7 out of 10) - Creepy and disturbing. Pretty good fun on Shudder if you have it.
The Long Walk 2025 (7 out of 10) - Well made film. Quite interesting concept and well written.
V/H/S/99 2022 (1 out of 10) - Contender for worst film I've ever seen.
Planes, Trains and Automobile 1988 (9 out of 10) - A classic. One of my favourite comedies. My favourite John Hughes film certainly.
Good Boy 2025 (6 out of 10) - The reason I got Shudder. Good film. Don't worry; the dog doesn't die.

5-25-77 (2008)
A quirky movie that somehow is tied up to the cinema release of 'Star Wars A New Hope' back in 25. May 1977.

7/10

Seen a few films this week, went in blind with no idea what it was about.

Cold Storage (2026) - 7/10
Decent move with a few funny bits in it. Liam Neeson moving into the comedy roles is working well.

Good Luck, Have Fun, Don't Die (2025) - 7/10
The story was a bit wacky but an interesting take on AI.

Wasteman (2026) - 2/10

Utter rubbish.

Shoot Em Up - 7/10

I miss the darker and grittier movies that didn't take themselves seriously. I feel like they've been lost to time. Always enjoyed Clive Owen though. The BMW advert series he starred in was great, especially the Madonna one.

If you are interested in Peter O'Toole, the 1st audio book by Brian Blessed has tons of stories about him. He certainly sounded like a character! I also thing King Ralph is a truly awful film (but some how also great)!
